Are you looking for a job with advancement potential? Due to our growth and a change in our business, we are adding a Technical Support Specialist position to the DevOps team in our organization! This full-time position is an in-office position, located in Urbandale, Iowa. Join our strong team and share our energy and drive to continue to be a leader in sports technology!

The Technical Support Specialist will configure, install, and maintain PC-related hardware and software in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. This includes responding to and resolving employee technical inquiries and issues and maintaining the home office physical inventory. Other general responsibilities will include documenting, writing, and updating procedures, as needed.

Wage: $23.00-$26.00/hr, depending on experience

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Art, Bachelor of Science, or Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of experience providing technical support
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting hardware and software for PCs and Windows Operating System (OS)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems and resolve issues
  • Time management and teamwork skills
  • Must work under pressure independently, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical support to employees for hardware, software, and network technical support, including but not limited to Windows PCs, peripherals, printers, company-owned mobile devices, and Ryzer office network/VPN. Answers questions related to software, debugging software/hardware and network issues, installing new software, replacing damaged or old hardware, and setting up devices for users. Troubleshoots and identify problems, suggest solutions and/or determines escalation path.
  • Helps System Administrator monitor and maintain various systems used by employees including but not limited to blocking and unblocking VPN/web content, user account access, and email quarantine management. Handles password resets.
  • Maintains customer website domain registrations, transfers, and implications of domain name systems (DNS). Transfers domains from customer owned registrar accounts to Ryzer, helps customers change name services on their domains, when they are not transferring domains to Ryzer, and sets up DNS zones when previously inactive customers are brought back as active customers.
  • Writes System Administration documentation and help articles as new troubleshooting issues arise, new procedures are created, or existing procedures are updated.
  • Optimizes inventory levels. Maintains physical inventory of home office to ensure Ryzer has spare devices that can be deployed in a timely manner. Wipes and recycles old devices, as needed. Performs preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of printers, and peripherals, as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required, including but not limited to backing up the System Administrator.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs occasionally as needed
  • 75-100% of the time will include seeing and hearing, reading documents on the computer screen, with dexterity typing and writing abilities
  • 0-25% of the time will require standing, walking, reaching and bending
