Full job description
Job Title: Technical Writer
· Create, organize, write, analyze, and edit technical documentation, operational procedures, and manuals to explain complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
· Professionally interface with Company Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Program Management teams to develop detailed electronic and hard copy manuals that facilitate maintenance, logistics, and procedural requirements.
· Complete assigned tasks to implement processes and procedures for a growing company that meets FAA Part 145 and ISO 9001D regulatory requirements, as well as enhance organizational efficiencies and profitability.
· Create and publish documents per MIL Specs 40051, 63029, etc., and customer-requested formats.
· Interface directly with the customers as required.
· All other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Basic Skills and Competency Requirements Preferred:
· Minimum of 8 years aviation maintenance experience and technical writing.
· Must have at least 5 years of technical writing experience in a team environment.
· Requires rotary wing experience.
· UH-60 A/L experience preferred.
· Understand and interpret engineering drawings and parts and applications lists.
· Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
· Ability to write in Extensible Markup Language (XML) (using Arbortext, Oxygen XML editor or similar program).
- Understanding of MIL Specs: 40051, 63029, S1000D.
- Excellent Microsoft Office 365 Suite skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
· Experience with aircraft structures and electrical systems.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Self-motivated and customer oriented.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner with efficiency and accuracy.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion with a high level of attention to detail.
· Willingness to be cross trained in different programs to support the workload within the Publications Department.
- Ability to have or obtain DoD SECRET clearance is required.
