Full job description
Job Title: TEMPEST Engineer – Top Secret Clearance
Company: Cogent Security
Location: Remote
Clearance Requirement: Active Top Secret – U.S. Citizens Only
Salary: $105,000 - $110,000 – based on experience
Cogent Security is seeking a TEMPEST Engineer to provide TEMPEST test support and programmatic services for the U.S. Coast Guard TEMPEST Program. This role works under the direct supervision of a current NSA Certified TEMPEST Professional II (CTP II) conducting Instrumented TEMPEST Surveys (ITS) and Visual TEMPEST Inspections (VTI) at USCG facilities nationwide.
- Assist in the development of TEMPEST Test Plans and Reports
- Perform VTI inspections as a member of a team or independently.
- Perform ITS inspections under the direction of a certified engineer (CTP II).
- Document TEMPEST survey and inspection activities, utilizing visual and
- specialized instrumental methods at US Coast Guard units.
- Develop specialized test equipment to facilitate TEMPEST testing.
- Provide TEMPEST documentation support in laboratory and field
- environments.
- Assist in identifying and acquiring TEMPEST information needed in the
- development of test plans.
- Assist with development of contingency plans and risk management options.
- Manage and moderate bi-weekly TEMPEST Status teleconferences with USCG
- representatives
- Maintain calibration and inventory of TEMPEST Test Equipment
- Manages and properly store classified TEMPEST-related database
- Update and maintain documentation as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- BS in related technical discipline.
- Top Secret clearance
- Experience in TEMPEST testing
- Experience as Electronics Test Technician, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing, Radio Frequency (RF) testing, Electronics Laboratory Technician or similar field.
- Requires a high degree of creative ability, innovative analysis approaches, engineering skills, and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Strong communications skills both oral and written.
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent w/ 5+ Years Direct Relevant Experience
- Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills to directly support exercise specific applications.
- Strong time management and be eager to start and finish new tasks.
- Current Microsoft OS Certification.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Normal office environment and laboratory settings.
- Ability to move through confined and restricted spaces
- Capable of climbing ladders and stairways
- Ability to lift and carry equipment ranging up to 50 – 75 lbs.
