Job purpose

The Human Resources Specialist - Temporary -as an essential part of the Human Resources Department- will provide HR services and will support the entire TLS Team by managing employee relations, payroll processing, time and attendance, recruitment, and ensuring AA/EEO compliance. The Human Resources Specialist administers the activities relating to TLS’ payroll processing, including monitoring processes to ensure accurate wages and taxes through internal controls, and managing time and attendance reports. The employee will be TLS’ subject matter expert relating to all payroll and recruitment efforts.

Duties and responsibilities

As a Human Resources Specialist, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and coordinate all job recruitment such as job postings, review resumes, telephone screenings, interview coordination, job offers oversight, and onboarding process.
  • Recruits, interviews, and tests, entry-level employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Lead the administration of the Background checks and Drug testing.
  • Support the updates of job descriptions.
  • Prepares and keeps paperwork required to place employees on the payroll, establishes and maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements, and processes status changes in a timely manner.
  • Perform the payroll process for Puerto Rico-based employees and US-based clients’ payroll, including entering employee information in payroll, time, and attendance systems appropriately.
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain personnel files and process employee status in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Support for employee relations and other HR matters as needed.
  • Support client needs regarding all Human Resource matters.
  • Coordinates projects, trainings, and communications.
  • Other projects as assigned by Management.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Human Resources or a related field in Business Administration, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a HR Specialist.
  • Advanced knowledge of sourcing techniques (e.g. Boolean search), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and HR databases.
  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and HR databases
  • Hands-on experience with virtual, phone, and in-person recruiting and interviews, candidate screening, and evaluation
  • Extensive knowledge of recruiting platforms such as LinkedIn, Monster, Indeed, etc.
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, internet searching, etc.
  • Familiarity with social media and other professional recruitment networks
  • Strong decision-making, organizational skills, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills to excel in a deadline-driven fast-paced environment
  • Payroll processing experience and handling confidential and complex projects.
  • Committed to a team environment while providing customer service excellence
  • Ability to work with all levels of a multifaceted workforce, as well as with confidential and complex projects
  • Excellent knowledge of State and Federal Labor laws and how to apply them to varying situations
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, written and phone communication skills in English and Spanish

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $14.00 per hour
