Full job description
Job Summary:
The Tool Maker will be responsible for creating and making tooling based upon applicable drawings, sketches or verbal instructions, using a wide variety of machinery and necessary hand tools.
Regular work schedule will reflect Monday – Friday; 7am – 3:30pm OR 2pm – 10:30pm
Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $30-$32 per hour plus 10% differential for second or third shift. This is the reasonable estimate for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Pay could be more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
You will make a difference in the following ways:
- Utilizes appropriate machining and tooling devices to make machined parts based upon drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions, to the required specifications.
- Modifies existing tooling as needed based upon updated tool specifications.
- Handle requests for manufacture of duplicate machine parts or tool holders and repair or modification of existing items.
- Inspects completed tools for contour conformity, smoothness, and any defects. Makes necessary adjust as required.
- Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, abiding by company rules and safety regulations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
What you bring:
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required; trade school certification preferred
- 3-5 years experience as a tool maker required
- CNC programming, setup and machining experience required
Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge and use of lathes and milling machines
- Ability to set-up machines to produce parts to the appropriate specifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Computer skills
- Basic mathematical knowledge and perform addition and subtraction
- Ability to work with close tolerances
- Strong working knowledge of cutting tools
- Ability to utilize hand tools and have strong mechanical abilities
- Must demonstrate safe working habits, the ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace
Specific Skills:
- Ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
- Proficiency in blueprint reading
- Ability to use measuring equipment including but not limited to micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, machinist scales, and optical comparators
Customers Define Our Success: Provide support to the production floor, answer equipment repair and trouble-shooting requests to eliminate machine downtime and ensure continuous production.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
