Position Summary

We are seeking a Traffic Engineer with 3+ years of experience to work in the expanding Transportation group. The Traffic Engineer will work on a variety of public sector infrastructure projects in the NY/NJ area including bridge, roadway, and aviation projects. Work includes preparation and/or review of design documents for signs (guide signs and traffic control warning/regulatory signs), pavement markings, traffic signals, traffic barriers, maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT) design, ITS design, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review design plans, estimates, technical specifications, details, and other project related documents (guide signs, traffic control signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, traffic barriers, MPT, ITS, etc.).
  • Design/Review construction design documents to ensure effective and safe traffic operations, including evaluation of complex construction phasing plans.
  • Develop conceptual documents and provide design recommendations.
  • Lead technical project meetings.
  • Coordinate with staff from a range of other disciplines (civil, structural, operations, etc.) to resolve design issues.
  • As a small firm, there are great opportunities to work on a variety of projects and learn different aspects of Traffic Engineering including Transportation Planning skills.

Qualifications Desired

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-10 years of experience in the transportation engineering field
  • Subject matter expertise in signing design and pavement marking design
  • Knowledge of FHWA MUTCD, AASHTO, State DOT, and other NY/NJ local standards
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, GuideSIGN, AutoTURN, and Gerber Omega
  • Technical Writing and Report Documentation
  • PE License
  • Uncompromising Integrity
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must.
  • Have a solid time management system and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
