The dates for this position are May 24th-August 11th, 2024.
In this role as an Santa Clara Vanguard, Transportation Assistant, you will report directly to the SCV Corps Director. You will work closely with the SCV Chefs, VMAPA Director of Health and Wellness, SCV Corps Manager, and VMAPA Fleet Manager to execute the logistics of staff and member transportation as well as retrieval and drop off of additional supplies through the SCV pre-tour and summer tour.
SCV Transportation Assistants Responsibilities:
- Support and assist the VMAPA Fleet Manager with any clerical tasks while on the road
- Perform and maintain the efficiency of the passenger cars used by the corps for transportation of seven or less passengers and materials. This includes but is not limited to: maintaining cleanliness (interior and exterior), ensuring the correct fuel is used and the tank is filled, and communicating with the Fleet Manager for any irregularities in performance
- Pick up and drop off staff members (and at times performing members) from the assigned airport on staff travel days
- Pick up and drop off performing members (and at times staff members) from the doctor's office, urgent care, emergency room, or other necessary locations
- Pick up groceries ordered by food truck staff and/or other materials requested or ordered by Directors
- Communicate all large purchases with Directors ahead of time when a specific requested item is not available
- Provide an accurate trail of receipts for all purchases made to Directors
- Assist with projects as assigned by Corps Management
- Assist caption assistants only when needed and all other responsibilities have been taken care of
Location & Schedule:
Transportation Assistants will travel full-time with breaks with Vanguard from May 25th through August 10th. Meals, lodging and travel will be provided for this position.
Compensation:
All corps-related travel, housing, and meal expenses will be covered by Vanguard. Personal travel and meal expenses are not covered.
Qualifications:
- Age 25 or older
- A driver's license is required
Experience:
- At least one year of participation in a performing arts unit, preferably with WGI and/or DCI components is preferred but not required
- At least one year of DCI/WGI or other related administration experience is desired
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience hauling a trailer is preferred but not required
- Additional on-the-job training will be provided
