POSITION OVERVIEW: The Bucking and Trimming Technician is responsible for overseeing the bucking and trimming processes within the plant processing department. This role ensures that cannabis plants are processed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Ensure compliance with company policies and state regulations while also maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Trim & Bucking Technician is required to work with a team, but also must be able to work independently and efficiently. The Bucking and Trimming Technician identifies contamination or conditions, which may be impacting the quality of finished cannabis products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

- Ensure adherence to HI State law in relation to HRS 329-D and Chapter 11-850
- Verify that all labeling meets the regulatory standards as outlined in HRS 11-850
- Operate and maintain processing equipment, ensuring all machines and/or tools are functioning correctly and safely
- Manually trim cannabis flowers to remove excess leaves and stems, ensuring a high-quality finished product
- Utilize trimming tools and equipment efficiently and safely
- Monitor inventory levels of trimming and bucking supplies, such as scissors, gloves, and cleaning materials
- Notify the supervisor of any inventory needs to prevent shortages
- Manually trim cannabis flowers to remove excess leaves and stems, ensuring a high-quality finished product
- Remove flowers from cannabis stems (bucking) with precision to prevent damage to the product
- Ensure all bucked flowers meet the company’s quality standards
- Ensure consistency and uniformity in the appearance and quality of the final product
- Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Document any discrepancies or issues encountered during the trimming and bucking processes
- Clean and maintain trimming and bucking tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good working condition
- Follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean working environment
- Suggest and implement improvements to the trimming and bucking processes to enhance efficiency and quality
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks
- May perform other duties and tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred
- Must be 21 years or older
- Experience within the cannabis industry is preferred
- Must be able to successfully pass a DOH background check and maintain DOH background clearance
- Read industry publications to keep up-to-date on trends
- Either already have and/or obtain knowledgeable about cannabis products; willingness to be knowledgeable about everything and anything cannabis related
- Attend any and all required meetings and training; and undergo additional trainings as requested; including participating in professional development trainings hosted by the company
- Firm understanding of HRS 329-D and H.A.R. 11-850; or willingness to gain a firm understanding
Required Technical / Other Skills and Abilities
- Exhibits dedication to the mission, vision and values of Big Island Grown
- Ability to learn and use applicable POS software or other technologies
- Compliance to the BIG dress code policy and rules of conduct
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and adhere to all safety procedures
- Be honest, trustworthy and dependable
- Have reliable transportation to get to and from work on time
- Highly customer service oriented and/or team work oriented
- Good communication skills
- Able to function in a fast-paced, professional environment
- Is able to work flexible hours, when needed, and able to work with minimal to no supervision
- Comfortable navigating changes in a positive and mission driven manner
- Shows self-motivation/innovation and the ability to work well with all members of their staff and the company, as well as with their direct supervisor
- Ability to listen well and communicate effectively with various audiences, especially with the direct supervisors and other co-workers
- Ability to perform a monotonous task with great efficiency without losing quality
The Location and Hours:
Located in the surrounding Hilo area.
Fulltime works hours Monday to Thursday (6am to 4pm)

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
