JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to add an Underwriting Assistant to our Personal Lines Department. This individual will provide critical support to our Personal Lines Underwriting Team through a variety of responsibilities. They will assist with endorsements, renewals, and the processing and delivery of quotes and policies for new business. The Underwriting Assistant is also responsible for preparing information for reports and various correspondence.

Insurance experience is not required — we’re happy to train the right person! If you have strong customer service skills, experience working in an office environment, and enjoy being part of a collaborative and friendly team, this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the new business process by creating files, gathering information, and preparing quotes for the underwriter
  • Process endorsements on existing personal lines policies
  • Prepare correspondence to agents and insureds, including Inspection Recommendation Letters, Non-Renewal Notices, Cancellation Notices, and Notices of Altered Terms
  • Process and issue new and renewal business under the direction of the underwriter and within designated authority limits
  • Respond to agent and insured inquiries via email and phone
  • Participate in the payments call queue
  • Provide training to others in the same position, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • A customer-focused attitude — providing excellent service to both internal and external customers is our top priority
  • Prior experience in an office environment; this role involves regular use of computers, printers, scanners, and other office tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new software systems.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
