Universal Banker I
Reports to: AVP-Waukee Market Manager or VP-Grimes Market Manager

The primary responsibilities of this position are to help service customers with the paying and receiving functions of the bank, deepen customer relationships and attract additional customers.
This position is responsible for taking deposits, withdrawals, and transfers for customers as well as opening new deposit accounts, selling cashier’s checks, money orders, cashing bonds as well as various other customer service functions.

In addition, the Universal Banker I is responsible for selling additional products to customers and prospects and supporting the overall sales efforts of the Bank, understanding related compliance regulations related to applicable bank services. The Universal Banker I shall seek support and training from the Universal Banker II in areas that they may need assistance prior to escalating the issue to management.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

□ Provides extensive, personalized customer service to depositors including those with specific or special banking needs.

□ Perform paying and receiving functions for customers. This will include taking deposits, withdrawals, and transfers from customers. Additionally, the Universal Banker may sell cashier’s checks, money orders, processing night deposits, recording items and verifying currency and help customers with additional related services.

□ Assist in answering the telephones and greeting customers as they enter the lobby.
□ Understand and comply with the related laws and compliance regulations that may pertain.

Examples include Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Funds Availability Policy and others.
□ Maintain confidentiality of customer information and proprietary bank information. This includes during and post employment with the Bank.
□ Provides banking account advice, including suggestions for account resolution and other information to customers as needed.
□ Prepares and maintains account documentation, including signature cards, check orders, transfers and service charges.
□ Support customers with maintenance questions concerning their accounts. This will include address changes, check orders and the like.
□ Knowledgeable on current banking technology, both from a customer service role and on core banking systems and software.
□ First point of contact for customers with assistance in online banking products, including but not limited to mobile banking, mobile deposit, bill pay, etc.
□ Promotes and explains other financial institution services such as consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates of deposit, safe deposit boxes and gift cards.
□ Look for opportunities to cross-sell banking products and services through conversations with customers while performing transactions or discussing services and refer the customer to a loan officer if appropriate.

□ Provides assistance to loan officers, including updating loan data into the Bank’s computers, managing the insurance ticklers and updating insurance in the loan files.

□ May provide assistance to the Cashier and Assistant Cashier when needed. This may include running proof work, reviewing mobile deposits and other duties typically handled by the Assistant Cashier.

□ Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

□ Represent the Bank in a positive way in the community through volunteer opportunities and recognizing potential opportunities for the Bank.
□ Must understand the role of sales and customer service in a community bank environment.
□ Must be able to discover customer needs and be able to obtain new customer accounts.

Education and Experience:

□ High school diploma or equivalent, 1 or 2 years of Admin. Assistant education preferred
□ Minimum 3 years banking experience or equivalent office environment
□ Successful completion of in-house training program
□ Good computer skills; ability to operate standard office equipment
□ Good communication and human resources skills, as well as excellent sales abilities
□ Excellent knowledge of all financial institution products and services
□ Ability to multi-task and excellent attention to detail
