About Us:
Augusta Regional SPCA is a mission-driven animal welfare organization dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in our community through compassionate care, affordable veterinary services, and education. We are currently seeking a part-time/relief veterinarian to support our spay/neuter program, shelter medicine needs, and community wellness efforts.

Position Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian to join our team on a part-time/relief basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) surgery and shelter medicine. In addition to performing spay/neuter surgeries at least one day per week, the ideal candidate will provide coverage for our full-time veterinarian as needed and help facilitate 2–4 community wellness clinics per month.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgeries (minimum 1 day/week)
Provide medical care to shelter animals, including exams, diagnostics, and treatments
Cover for the full-time veterinarian during scheduled time off or emergencies
Lead and participate in community wellness clinics (2–4 per month), offering preventive care and education
Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with shelter protocols and regulations
Collaborate with veterinary staff, shelter team, and community partners to ensure the highest level of care

Qualifications:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in Virginia
Experience in high-volume spay/neuter surgery preferred
Shelter medicine experience is a plus
Strong communication skills and a passion for community outreach
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
