Pet Savers : We are saving lives one spay/neuter at a time! Come join an amazing non-profit veterinary (spay/neuter and vaccine) clinic that is people and pet focused. We offer affordable care to our community and have the joy of helping those when veterinary care is rapidly becoming unaffordable to so many pet owners!

We are seeking a PT dedicated and compassionate veterinary assistant to join our team at a high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter clinic. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal health and welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting veterinarians with surgeries, including prepping animals, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operative care
  • Handling and restraining animals during exams and procedures
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
  • Providing compassionate care and support to animals before and after surgery
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the clinic and surgical areas
  • Assisting with client communication and education on post-operative care and wellness
  • Collaborating effectively with veterinarians, other veterinary assistants, and support staff to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality care for all animals
  • Maintaining a positive and professional attitude while working with animals, clients, and colleagues
  • Demonstrating exceptional time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively
  • Assisting with training new team members and providing mentorship and support as needed
  • Communicating effectively with clients regarding pre- and post-operative instructions, follow-up care, and answering any questions or concerns
  • Building strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners to promote the clinic's mission and services

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic a must
  • Knowledge of basic animal care and behavior
  • Ability to lift and restrain large animals
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and protocols
  • Excellent work history demonstrating reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Proven track record of being a team player, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, and demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and assist with various tasks as needed to support the clinic's operations
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Schedule: We are looking for someone who can work 2 days a week (Wed & Thurs).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
