Job Summary
CityPaws Emergency is a leading animal care provider dedicated to delivering exceptional medical care to pets in need. We started as an urgent care and are now expanding to a 24 hour facility. Our focus is providing compassionate, affordable high quality care with reasonable hours and a healthy work environment. We also provide drinks and meals during your shifts! We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team and contribute to the health and recovery of our patients.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in the care and recovery of critically ill or injured animals. You will work closely with our veterinarians and other veterinary technicians to provide intensive monitoring, nursing care, and support to hospitalized patients. This role requires advanced knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures, strong critical thinking, and the ability to handle high-stress situations with care and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on nursing care for critically ill and injured animals in inpatient and outpatient, including Perform diagnostic procedures such as blood draws, catheter placements, and ECG monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatment plans, patient Assist in emergency procedures, including resuscitation efforts, trauma care, and surgical support.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and other veterinary staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Monitor patients' response to treatment and report any changes to the attending veterinarian. Ensure proper management of critical equipment, such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and ECG machines.
  • Provide comfort and support to pet owners, explaining treatment plans, progress, and prognosis in a compassionate and clear manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile environment in the workspace to ensure patient safety and infection control.

Education/Certification:

  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT) or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 in an ICU or emergency care setting required.
  • Strong understanding of critical care procedures and equipment.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in patient monitoring, emergency procedures, and advanced nursing care. - Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations and make critical decisions quickly. Excellent communication skills, both with team members and pet owners. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care and customer service.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and perform physical tasks required in a veterinary emergency setting.
