Philadelphia Animal Specialty and Emergency is creating a position for a Veterinary Technician Manager. This is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a rapidly growing multispecialty veterinary hospital in Philadelphia. The Technician Manager will be responsible for leading the veterinary technician and assistant team and help direct the day to day functions on an interdepartmental level. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership and provide mentorship to help us continue to grow and develop the technical team. As part of the leadership team, the Technician Manager will report to the Hospital Administrator.

Essential Functions of the Technician Manager:

  • Supervise all clinical managers, technicians and assistants
  • Work with clinical managers on scheduling and people management
  • Lead and support clinical managers in recruiting, training and onboarding of new technical staff.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of veterinary nursing care for all patients
  • Facilitate and organize meetings among the technician and assistant teams.
  • Assist with development and execution of the nurse leveling system within each department
  • Oversee technician and assistant education
  • Manage/approve requests off, time and attendance for clinical managers
  • Support growth of team members by facilitating regular reviews and goal setting
  • While this is a non-clinical role some time spent in a clinical capacity may be required
  • Other reasonable duties related to the position based on the needs of the hospital


  • CVT required
  • 5-10 years experience as a veterinary technician manager, previous experience in a multispecialty veterinary hospital environment preferred
  • 5+ years clinical experience required
  • Strong critical thinking, planning and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self motivated individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team


  • Full time
  • Primarily Monday to Friday schedule with the need to be flexible to overlap and support the swing, overnight, and weekend team members on the ECC service.
