Our rapidly growing and recently expanded veterinary hospital needs an experienced Veterinary Assistant/ Technician and team member to join our fun, motivated and passionate staff. Whitmire Animal Hospital is a full-service, 3 full-time veterinarian, small animal hospital offering complete medical, surgical and preventative care.

We run a highly successful facility that schedules appointments and sees walk-in clients, six days a week, including Saturdays. We are currently looking for a full-time or part-time, client-focused, personable and driven individual, who is comfortable working in multiple roles. The ideal candidate would be an overall team member, efficient working with all types of animals, and communicating with our patients’ owners. We are looking for someone dependable, with leadership, communication and organizational capabilities. An individual with anesthesia and surgical experience would be valued.

Duties include but are not limited to assisting DVM with exam rooms, scheduling appointments, animal handling/patient care, surgery prep and assistance, IV placement, medication administration, cytology preparation and diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, client communication and education, dental radiographs/cleaning, laboratory testing and reporting, and maintaining hospital cleanliness.

Compensation based on experience and background.

Job type: Full-time (36-40 hours per week) or Part-time (hours may be flexible)
Typical start time: 7:30 AM
Typical end time: 6:30 PM

Veterinary Assistant skills and experience:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 2+ years’ experience working with animals
  • 1+ years’ experience working in a Veterinary Assistant or Technician/ Client Communication role
  • Comfort working around all types of animals required
  • Comfort communicating with clients required
  • Experience with animal restraint a must
