A boutique communications agency with a strong presence in strategic outreach. Arillic is a supplier and partner to the federal government and its supporting teams. We are seeking a motivated and energetic Video Journalist . Arillic is growing and looking for eager individuals to join our team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Video Journalist will work across a myraid of projects but primarily support the end client The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). More specifically, supporting the Public Affairs Office (PAO) and Information Resliance Office (IRO).
The Video Journalist shall work with PAO directly to address the emerging challenges in the external information environment, shape the operational environment to achieve Information Resilience strategic objectives and goals and secure a positive brand identity. To ensure optimal branding and reputation management, in unison with the DTRA PA office, the contractor shall coordinate and socialize multiple internal and external publics to gauge interest, capture-create accurate content that mitigates or counters disinformation/misinformation and ensure the agency maintains a positive image.

- Brand management and image promotion skills
- Travel to OCONUS locations to gather footage
- Create videos from start to finish (strategy, script, capture, editing, etc)
- Ability to craft a story from audio/visual elements and assets
- Video Journalist services to capture and draft articles that align with director-level and IRO communication intent, ensure for a positive public reputation, and/or provide awareness of DTRA’s activities for media use.

- Manage technical resources and provide technical and creative support for multi-media productions
- Investigate, design and develop digital media that supports DTRA’s Public Affairs Office efforts in attaining an information advantage through countering FMI and promulgating agency activities.
- Video journalist shall interface and collaborate with agency leadership at all levels, program managers, subject matter experts, interagency and international partners for contextual and strategic content.
- Collaborate with DTRA internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure content accuracy in each new communication product. Fact-checking methods and tools will be used to thoroughly verify material and information used within PA products and sourced accordingly.
- Assist the Government in debunking false narratives against the agency by countering specific FMI attack with the creation of fact-based products.
- Employ cultural sensitivities in order to mitigate FMI activities in an accurate and respectful manner
- Provide the DTRA Public Affairs Office with strategies and products that support daily, weekly and monthly discussion/rollout efforts.
- Inform, educate and connect media activities with DTRA’s key stakeholders, partners, etc. by using new, innovative methods and approaches.
- Identify and analyze DTRA’s target audiences. Supprot creation of an overall media analysis to determine what information DTRA stakeholders need to know. Review basic demographic information, as well as personalities, traditional and media news stories, and how DTRA messages and images are currently being portrayed.
- Assist the Public Affairs Office in capturing strategically aligned digital content that encapsulates DTRA’s mission, accurately reflecting the agencies information advantage initiatives.
- Craft a well-articulated summary of strategically aligned content from an information advantage perspective in support of agency messaging. This summary shall display full understanding of DTRAs branding and marketing vision while properly aligning with DTRAs strategic intent.
- Creating strategically aligned digital media for the DTRA Public Affairs Office that describes or enhances written content from the agency’s strategic communications perspective. These Public Affairs products will be used to establish a strategic common operating picture for written correspondence to include products such as articles, web content, factsheets and social media posts.
- Crafting well-articulated illustrations for the Public Affairs Office that align with the agency’s information advantage efforts and that displays a strategic perspective that directly aligns with agency messaging.
- Maintain high level of standards and output including materials
- Using knowledge of current video software to generate and manipulate videows, animations, sound, and text into consolidated and seamless cross platform multimedia programs.
- Ensure accesibility and 508 compliance, including closed captioning.
- Must interact, communicate, and present ideas on a daily basis with a variety of personalities
- Works independently, as well as collaboratively as necessary.
- Works on multiple projects simultaneously
- Plans and meets project and production deadlines by prioritizing workload and adapting to changing conditions.
- Remains up-to-date with industry leading software and technologies to include, but are limited to: Adobe AfterEffects, Premier Pro, etc.
- Engage in ongoing communication with key government agency staff
- This position performs additional duties as assigned, given adequate guidance and resources.
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors’ Degree in communications, videography, video journalism or related field preferred; or five (5) years of related experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of prior demonstrated experience with video journalism.
- Expereince in information security is a must
- Utilize authorized DoD file transfer technology to send video –capture content back to DTRA PA for editing
- Proficient with document and presentation software and technologies to include, but are limited to: Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Microsoft Visio.
- Proficient in virtual meeting structures (e.g. Zoom, Teams, etc) and virtual project management tools (e.g. Asana, Trello, etc)
- Profieceint with Adobe Suite (AfterEffects, Premier Pro, PhotoShop, etc)
- Must have knowledge of publication planning/workflow tools
- Strong project and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others individually, and as part of a team.
- Must be detail oriented
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines.
- Must demonstrate and maintain a strong work ethic and a good demeanor toward work.
- Full fluency in English
- Must have a Secrete Level US Security Clearance
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a hybrid setting; while it is primiarily remote, you are required to come into the main office on occasion. This role routinely uses filming and phorophrapy equipment. standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Chosen candidate may be provided a laptop and some equipment for work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is largely a sedentary role.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will vary depending on project timeline.
SALARY, BENEFITS, AND
All salary and benefits will be discussed during interviews. Salary will be based on commensurate experience. Only full time employees are eligible for benefits programs.
TRAVEL
Work will be primarily virtual with some on-site work perfomed at DTRA Headquarters (HQ) located at 8725 John J. Kingman Road, Fort Belvoir, Virginia 22060-6201.
Travel will be required for onsite capture at events in New Mexico, Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, and various other states.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 1 – 40 per week
