Objective

As a member of our vineyard team, the candidate should have Viticulture/Plant Science Degree or include, field checking, pest use reports, irrigation scheduling, field trail data collection and analysis. Candidate is responsible for helping establish and helping meet the business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting PCA Team with monitoring pest, weed and the nutritional status of all vines and the application therein of appropriate materials.
  • Assist Senior Management with Irrigation Scheduling.
  • Supervise and monitor the collection of crop estimates, pruning weights, field trail data etc.
  • Provide accurate and detailed monthly reports to senior management and grower relation/ winemaking team
  • Ensure that all cultural operations are performed in a timely manner with the utmost attention to detail and safety.
  • To respectfully interface with labor and fellow employees in a professional inter-dependent manner.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Maintain good records of day-to-day activities and assist administrators by properly filling out forms such as timecards, water, equipment or pest reports on a timely basis.
  • It is the goal of senior management that each viticulturist be somewhat interchangeable. While each viticulturist will have primary responsibility for a specific aspect of day-to-day operations each will be expected to help the team without territorial responsibilities.
  • Be available, especially during harvest, for after hours duties to include supervising spray activities, frost control and harvesting.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

1. Minimum Education / Certifications / License’s required:

  • C.B.S. in Agricultural Science, preferably with an emphasis in Viticulture,
  • I.P.M., Entomology Plant Protection, or Plan Protection
  • Must be highly familiar with computers and tablets, Excel, Word, data entry on tablets.
  • Valid CA Driver’s license with good driving record

2. Experience:

  • General knowledge of Viticulture

3. Skills, Ability, and Knowledge:

  • This position requires good communication skills and the ability to communicate well with the team.
  • Bilingual preferred English/Spanish but not required.Ability to work flexible schedule including overtime when required, and night, weekends, and long hours

4. Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and work in cold and wet conditions
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach, grasp, hold, handle items and work with fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders
  • Clear vision (close and distant), peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus
  • Hearing adequate for working safely around vineyards, machinery, vehicles, and other equipment and crews

5. Work Environment:

  • Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions, such as cold, fog, rain, heat, dust, wind, sun, etc.
  • Moderate to high noise levels typical of farm equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime
  • Weekends as needed
