Volunteer Coordinator - NC

We're looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who is passionate about Black mental health and wants to create positive change. The Volunteer Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Community Engagement Coordinator and Executive Director.

START DATE: March 1, 2024

SCHEDULE: 10 hours weekly, flexible schedule

DURATION: March - May 2024

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contractor, Part-time

PAY: $600/mo Stipend

LOCATION: Mostly remote. In-person attendance is required for Darkness RISING Project: Live 7 in Raleigh, North Carolina, on June 1, 2024. Additional in-person volunteer recruitment days may be required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers.
  • Collecting volunteer information, confirming availability and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database.
  • Using marketing tools such as outreach programs, e-mails, and volunteer databases.
  • Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about event updates and changes
  • Ensuring that volunteers understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
  • Organizing training and leading on-the-job training.
  • Keeping schedules and records of volunteers' work.
  • Ensuring the organization's purpose is conveyed to the public through our volunteers
  • In-person recruitment at community events as needed
  • In-person event preparation, usually 1-2 weeks prior to the event
  • Supervising and directing volunteers at DR Live: 7 NC on Jun 1, 2024
  • Communicate with volunteers before, during, and directly after the event.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Short and long-term project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to use online marketing communications tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, grammar, and caption writing skills
  • Rock-solid technical skills.
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar). Especially seeking candidates with experience with Later, Notion or similar task management software.

is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides direct mental health resources and helps those in the Black community have conversations about their mental health and emotional well-being. We accomplish this by partnering with mental health providers, mental health educators, and Black performers from the Broadway community to create events, seminars, and direct resources where the intersection between mental health education and the arts collide.
