SUMMARY:
The Food Distribution Center (FDC) Associate carries out all aspects of order fulfillment, warehouse safety, and product care, from receiving to storage and distribution.They assume direct responsibility for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility for the smooth operation of AFFB.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Process dry/freezer/cooler order fulfillment by reading picking tickets, building orders, wrapping pallets, and creating pallet tags
- Facilitate food safety operations by ensuring the rule of first-in, first-out is strictly followed, by discarding spoiled products promptly, and by working with the FDC Manager in ensuring accurate records of changes to the inventory are kept
- Maintain accurate records by completing all required procedures and forms to ensure smooth operation
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and equipment
- Receive ServSafe training and certification and stay updated on Feeding America food safety guidelines
- Be constantly aware of and accountable for safety in the warehouse and communicate ideas to improve warehouse safety to leadership.
- Assist in putting away incoming product
- Work with volunteers sorting/boxing/building backpacks/etc
- Drive AFFB vehicles to make product pickups and deliveries to agencies, donor organizations, and affiliate food banks (When required, and only with appropriate licensure)
- Other duties as assigned according to the role and mission
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Trained and capable of using warehouse equipment that includes dolly, pump jack, power jack, forklift, and other material handling equipment
- Trained and capable of driving both automatic and standard transmission vehicles
- Obtain license/certifications and safely operate all warehouse equipment
- Committed to serving vulnerable populations to end hunger in the community served by AFFB
- Acceptance of and commitment to AFFB’s values, vision, and mission
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds consistently
- Valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Must show proof of valid auto insurance. Must meet underwriting requirements to drive fleet vehicles or personal vehicles for business purposes
