Warehouse & Facility Specialist

Job Summary:

The Shelter Operations Assistant is responsible for assisting all departments within the Gateway Pet Guardians Pet Resource Center. This position assists GPG with day to day janitorial and facilities maintenance, customer service and animal care. This person must be able to lift 50+ lbs repetitively as well as excel in teamwork. Heavy lifting is a requirement.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Accept deliveries using forklift and/or pallet jack and move pallets to designated areas
• Keep warehouse organized and clean
• Sort and organize donations and deliveries
• Bulk bag pet food
• Assist with stocking the retail store including moving pallets from warehouse to retail store
• Assist with inventory flow and transport through the building
• Perform and keep on top of pest control
• Upkeep outdoor space by mowing lawn, edging, clearing weeds, snow removal, etc.
• Assist with vehicle maintenance (identify issues, coordinating repair and preventive maintenance), cleanliness & upkeep
• Assist Community Outreach team with a variety of tasks including but not limited to trapping dogs and cats, transporting owned pets and running business related errands
• Clean cat traps
• Conduct maintenance tasks & repairs such as replacing light bulbs, changing filters and ceiling tiles
• Maintain, service, clean and properly store equipment
• Oversee external structures like the shed
• Maintain the parking lots
• Install appliances and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Working toward a high school diploma or GED preferred
• 2+ years experience driving a forklift safely
• 2+ years experience using a pallet jack
• Good verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic, team environment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods of time.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
