Job description
Ecosystem Planning and Restoration, LLC, (EPR) has an open position for a full-time Water Resources Engineer in our Columbia, MD office.

Our experience includes hundreds of stream & wetland restoration projects, design & construction, development of regional curves and reference reach data sets and monitoring of past projects to continually advance the science for Environmental Services. Our environmental planning services assist federal, state, municipal organizations, and private clients with their regulatory compliance needs. We have extensive experience with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and related state regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Manage restoration projects including contracting, watershed assessments, fluvial geomorphic conditional assessments, and ecosystem restoration design development.
· Develop ecosystem restoration designs, including stream and wetland restoration, using industry-standard practices and innovative approaches.
· Perform water quality pollutant reduction calculations.
· Develop and/or review hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (1D and 2D) and reports.
· Follow sampling protocols, field data management best practices, and coordinate with the project manager and other applicable EPR staff. Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other maps and scientific tools and equipment under varying field conditions.
· Independently, or with support from other EPR staff, engage with regulatory agencies and clients to develop and execute restoration strategies.
· Prepare technical reports describing findings from various aspects of ecosystem restoration design and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
· The selected individual will be part of the Project Development team supporting various projects in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
· Provide construction management services, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· The ability to produce high-quality deliverables, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and strong writing proficiency.
· The ability to work long hours in various conditions while completing field data collection, data analysis, and documentation.
· Show experience in the development of conceptual through final ecological restoration design tasks.
· Working knowledge of local, state, and federal permit requirements.
· Proficiency in CADD.
· Strong proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
· Experience with GIS software and GPS units and ability to use technology for data collection.
· Ability to travel to and perform fieldwork including existing condition assessments.
· Experience with ecological restoration, stream/wetland mitigation, or transportation projects is a plus.
· Work well in a team setting.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
· Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland.
· Minimum of 5 years experience working in ecosystem restoration and/or mitigation, stormwater management, watershed assessment, and business development.
