Job Description: Event Manager
We are looking for an outstanding Event Manager to join our team at 10 South. This role offers the opportunity to join a growing hospitality business with competitive pay, outstanding benefits (scroll to the bottom to find out about them!), and multiple pathways for career growth.
Summary
10 South Wedding Venue is part of BEDO Brands, a collection of brands that focuses on hospitality and the wedding industry, which also includes Mercantile Hall and Bon Bon Belle Bridal Boutique. 10 South is a wedding and event space located in Janesville, Wisconsin. We are seeking a full-time Event Manager to add to our team of amazing event staff.
Do you love love? Are you passionate about weddings? Do you have experience giving tours, selling a space, working with a sales team, planning events, and exceeding customer expectations? If you answered yes, this might be the role for you!
The Job:
1. Event Management:
- You oversee and execute up to 45 smooth, beautiful, safe events each year.
- You complete event planning tasks on time, you meet with couples to plan their events, and you are the wedding and venue expert for each couple you work with.
- You create WOW moments for each event you manage.
2. Sales:
- You give great venue tours and connect with the couples you meet.
- You are an all-star salesperson and turn your tours into event bookings regularly.
- You are a great communicator. You answer all inquiries within 24 hours.
3. Leadership:
- You demonstrate composure, empathy, and professionalism always.
- You put forth effort to make others, regardless of their position and whether it is higher or lower on the org chart than your own, successful.
- You lead by example.
4. Schedule:
- You have worked evenings and weekends before and love that schedule.
- You are able to give tours in the evenings and work 1-3 weekend days overseeing events.
- You thrive in a role that requires 40-50 hours per week of productive work time.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Organizationally brilliant: you like checklists, processes, and are the master of them.
- Happy, can-do attitude: you are warm, happy, and love working with people. No meanies. No judges.
- Empathy reigns supreme: we work with couples and their families every day and sometimes they can feel stress during the planning process. The ability to be empathetic and really walk in their shoes while helping them find solutions is paramount to success in this position.
- Contributor: you are comfortable voicing your observations in a constructive and helpful way knowing that we are all here to be our best.
- Fantastic work ethic: you see things that need to be taken care of and you tackle them. There is no passing the buck, we all own our overall success. aka: "Lazy" is not a word anyone would use to describe you.
- High standards: we are experience junkies and want our clients to feel the love from start to finish. Knowing how to deliver fabulous service is an art, and we're looking for someone who understands that wholeheartedly.
- Works well with others: We are looking for someone who wants to be an integral part of a team internally and externally with our preferred partners. We are all in the business of serving others, and that starts and ends with those we work with every day.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Learner: We are consistently, always seeking to be better, grow our skills, and serve better. If you feel restless when complacency is upon you, yep - here's another sign you're reading the right job posting.
- Follow-up and follow-through: Our standards are high, which is why if you're organizationally brilliant, this is a piece of cake for you.
