Full job description
Welder/Fabricator/Plant Maintenance
- For the majority of the year, this position is 2nd Shift (typical hours are 2:00PM – midnight), the winter months are daytime hours.
- Carrying out MIG and Stick welding, to manufacture items and components
- Cutting materials into the required shapes, checking dimensions and thicknesses
- Welding or joining metal and other materials into a wide range of structures
- Following engineering plans, drawings and instructions
- Operating tools and machinery and welding equipment
- Dismantling metal structures
- Cleaning tools, equipment and work areas
- Wearing safety clothing and using protective equipment
- Working on a mine site or in a workshop.
- The Maintenance personnel performs troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance on all electrical, mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Maintenance personnel will regularly examine equipment to ensure that it is operating appropriately
- This position must become knowledgeable in all aspects of mine operations and learn the location and function of equipment operating at the mine location
- Maintenance personnel work rotating shifts so schedules vary to cover all hours of mine operation which may include overtime, holidays and weekends
- Maintenance personnel may be subject to call-ins to assist with maintenance issues that may, or have, impact plant performance
- Haulage and Materials Handling Equipment
- Utilize available resources such as Standard Work Procedures SWP’s, job plans, service manuals or other written reference materials to ensure safe and efficient work practices
- Perform scheduled preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance as required
- Complete all required paperwork in a consistent and timely manner
- Meet established and communicated expectations set forth by mine management
- Interstate CDL Required.
