Steel Pro is looking to add qualified Welders/Fitters to its growing operation in Houston, MS. Our company is made up of Steel Professionals who are held to the highest standards within the industry. JOB SUMMARY: Welders perform standard welding procedures on a variety of sizes and gages of metal using Gas Metal Arc Welding, Flux Core Arc Welding. The work is physically demanding, requiring standing for the majority of the shift and lifting up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis. Welders hold welding torches and other equipment, as necessary, in all kinds of positions, including overhead.
Other duties may include the use of basic handheld power tools, production control system data entry terminals, and measuring devices. In addition, some climbing or other physical activity requiring manual dexterity and agility may be required. The work environment will vary and may be hot, cold, noisy, and dirty. Some exposure to outside weather conditions is possible. Some work may be in dark, confined spaces. May use equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and est., if required. May be required to work shifts other than days and lower rated jobs when necessary. Must clean work area when work is complete.
REPORTS TO: Welding Supervisor, Welding Manager, And Plant Manager
BASIC WELD KNOWLEDGE:
- Pass ISO Weld Symbol and Blueprint Reading Class and Test
- Ability to read drawings, routes, safety warnings and guidelines.
- Inspect welds for quality and make necessary repairs or adjustments
REQUIRED WELDING TEST:
- AWS D 1.1 Gas Metal Arc Welding Limited Thickness test in the 1G & 2G position-
- Maximum Single Pass / Minimum Size Multi-Pass Fillet Weld Test
WELD QUALITY:
- No More Then 1 Occurrence in a 6 Month Period. Non-Conformance to This Standard Will Disqualify Welder From Advancement Until Standard Has Been Met.
Job Scope and General requirements.
- Ability to produce high-quality welded parts and assemblies rapidly and efficiently.
- Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety.
- Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers.
- High School Diploma and Equivalent
- Welding Experience with MIG Welders Required
- Welding Experience with Carbon Steel and Galvanized Required
- Welding Experience with Stainless Steel and Aluminum
- Attention to Detail
- Self-Motivated and Willingness to Work
- Perform structural welding tasks according to blueprints and specifications
- Use various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Operate welding equipment and tools safely and effectively
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
- Certification in structural welding preferred
- Proven experience as a structural welder
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and welding symbols
- Strong attention to detail and precision in welding tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
