Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and bilingual WIC Clerk to join our public health team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to women, infants, and children by assisting with program enrollment, education, and resource navigation. This role requires excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish, along with a strong understanding of nutrition and community outreach. The WIC Clerk will serve as a vital link between clients and healthcare services, promoting healthy lifestyles and ensuring program compliance.

Job Overview
The WIC clerk determines program eligibility, makes appointments and performs clerical duties for the WIC program.Responsibilities and Duties
- Determines financial, residential and categorical eligibility for the WIC program.
- Answers telephones
- Schedules WIC appointments, answers questions regarding the WIC program
- Offers voter registration to each adult present at WIC appointments and is able to explain voter registration process to participants.
- Issues WIC benefits and explains use to participants
- Schedules and assists HOPE Center OB clinic staff for the obstetrics clinic on Tuesdays
- Ensures timely filing of WIC charts
- Ensures paper supplies are well stocked, and when running low will report to WIC Director for ordering
- Creates templates of charts, WIC information for participants, etc
- Translates as needed by other office staff (bilingual clerk only)
- Prepares monthly reports for mailing and ensures that they are received by postal staff in a timely manner.
- Maintains cleanliness of lobby as needed, but especially at the end of the work day.
Qualifications
- Must be trained in Oklahoma State’s WIC clerical program and signed off by WIC Program Coordinator within an appropriate amount of time.
- Must be punctual and ready to open the door every day before 8 am, and again before 1 pm after lunch break. Must lock door at the end of each work day.
- Must be an effective communicator
- Must be accountable for expected work days.
- Must be able to speak/read/write Spanish fluently (bilingual clerk only)
- Must be able to maintain professionalism and kindness toward all coworkers and WIC participants.
- Must be organized and intrinsically motivated.
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 per week
