SUMMARY:

Yen Press, one of the largest publishers of manga, manhwa, light novels, and original graphic novels in the North American market, is seeking a Marketing & Publicity Manager to help manage its rapidly growing list of manga and light novels. The Marketing & Publicity Manager will be responsible for overseeing Yen Press marketing efforts and campaigns, particularly in the areas of publicity, influencer marketing, social media, events, and advertising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management and oversight of the Yen Press Marketing Team members on matters related to social media, publicity, events, and advertising.
  • Leading Yen Press publicity efforts in the reviewer and influencer space, including developing the network of Yen Press contacts and the creation of publicity plans for key releases.
  • Managing marketing spends to balance efficient efforts with remaining within the approved budget.
  • Planning and oversight of Yen Press, JY, and Ize Press social media marketing, which includes the curation and creation of social media content with key members of the Marketing Team.
  • Planning and producing of content that entertains and promotes key Yen Press titles, particularly in the form of long and short-form video.
  • Collaborating with industry partners on cross-promotions via social media and at live conventions.
  • Planning of Yen Press convention appearances, including booth and advertising design, programming, giveaways, and panels.
  • Planning, producing, and hosting panels and programming at conventions and events.
  • Communicating with industry partners and licensors to plan for creator appearances at conventions, events, and press sessions.
  • Additional marketing, advertising, and social media tasks, as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Four to five years of marketing and publicity experience in the publishing industry required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Experience pitching to media and press and presenting in front of internal and external partners required.
  • Existing relationships with national and regional media contacts and influencers required.
  • Experience managing social media accounts in a professional setting required.
  • Ability to read community and marketing trends within the manga, anime, webcomic, and graphic novel space strongly required.
  • Passion and interest in manga, anime, webcomics, and graphic novels required.
  • Experience using media databases, such as Muck Rack and Cision, required.
  • Experience with digital cataloguing and galley services, such as Edelweiss and NetGalley, strongly preferred.
  • Experience media training and prepping creators strongly preferred.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
