A Historic Opportunity:

The Rickenbacker Woods Foundation (RWF) is seeking a dynamic individual to manage the “Creators, Originators & Innovators of Tomorrow Workforce Initiative” (COITWI); an eight month program where twenty-five paid high school interns from the Columbus area will work with local architects and engineers to design Central Ohio’s newest legacy museum

The foundation is the caretaker of the boyhood home of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, one of three National Historic Landmarks. Further, RWF celebrates the accomplishments of Granville T. Woods, also a Columbus native, who was a prolific African American inventor of over 60 patents including the “third rail” that powers subways and streetcars today.

The historic home of Eddie Rickenbacker will be redeveloped into a digital museum. We envision the stories of Rickenbacker, Woods, the Columbus Tuskegee Airmen, Driving Park & greater Livingston Avenue area being told through audio and visual presentation inside this 1,000 sq.ft. space. Additionally outdoor exhibits will also be designed. The youth who will join the internship program will work on specific tasks assigned by the Moody Nolan design team.

We seek an individual who has the capacity to inspire and guide the youth through this paid workforce development internship experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

The Program Manager under the direction of the Executive Director is responsible for the daily implementation of the COITW Initiative:

  • Lead and assist in planning and implementation of the daily program schedule
  • Responsible for executing plans and activities for up to 25 students
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the architecture and exhibit design team
  • Maintain professional attitude, rapport and appearance with all program stakeholders
  • Attend all required staff meetings
  • Availability to work evenings and Saturdays
  • Able to work in an office and education environment
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may be added or deleted based on organizational needs
  • Screen internship applications & facilitate interviews
  • Provide input to the Director and make recommendations for improvements to programs
  • Gather, analyze and process program data
  • Maintain accurate records including payroll and confidential documents related to the interns
  • Prepare materials for and support completion of reports and budgets as requested
  • Ensure assigned program activities and grant requirement are implemented successfully

Who Should Apply?

  • Candidates with 2 or 4 year college level preferred, will also consider someone pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree or certificate, or commensurate experience in a similar role.
  • The individual will have a familiarity with and passion for working with youth; an interest in history is preferred The program manager must be energetic, youth-focused, and proactive, with a passion for providing high-quality programming to youth

Qualifications – Skills & Experience

  • Must pass an FBI and BCI background check
  • Experience working with underserved populations
  • Strong understanding of how youth develop, how youth learn and the factors that influence their thinking
  • Superior organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: the ability to effectively motivate a variety of people in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables and work independently while prioritizing and maintaining organization
  • Detail oriented, logical and methodological approach to problem solving
  • Background in administering programs especially those related to the not-for-profit realm
  • Great follow-up skills
  • Prefer those with teaching experience
  • Prefer candidates who have an appreciation for local history

Work Hours: 25 Hours Weekly; Must be available 3:00pm – 7:00pm

Pay: Salaried – Commensurate with experience
