Full job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lacrosse Coach to lead our youth program for children ages 7-12. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the game and experience teaching young players the fundamentals while fostering a positive and fun environment. This role involves guiding young athletes in developing their skills, teamwork, and confidence, both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver coaching sessions: Design and implement age-appropriate lacrosse drills, practices, and games that focus on skill development, teamwork, and understanding of the game.
- Teach fundamentals: Instruct children on the essential techniques, rules, and positions of lacrosse, ensuring they build a solid foundation in the sport.
- Create an engaging environment: Foster a fun and supportive atmosphere that encourages participation, learning, and enjoyment of the game.
- Focus on skill progression: Monitor each child’s development, offering personalized feedback and strategies to help them improve their game.
- Promote teamwork and sportsmanship: Instill the values of cooperation, respect, and fair play, teaching children how to work together as a team and support their peers.
- Ensure safety: Supervise all activities to maintain a safe playing environment, teaching proper techniques to prevent injuries and promoting safe play.
- Communicate with parents: Provide regular updates on each child’s progress and upcoming events, and offer guidance on how parents can support their child’s development.
- Maintain equipment and facilities: Ensure all lacrosse equipment is properly set up, maintained, and stored after use. Make sure the field is safe and ready for play.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience coaching lacrosse, particularly with children aged 7-12. Familiarity with youth development in sports is a plus.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A background in physical education, sports coaching, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication, patience, and the ability to engage young athletes. In-depth knowledge of lacrosse techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification required but don't worry we'll help you out!
- Physical Requirements: Ability to actively participate in lacrosse activities, including running, demonstrating drills, and standing for extended periods.
Additional Requirements:
- A passion for teaching lacrosse to children and helping them develop as athletes and individuals.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment for all participants, regardless of skill level.
- Flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 30 per week
