- Indeed’s AI-powered products pull from the 320 terabytes of data Indeed collects every day.
- Indeed has helped MGM Resorts streamline its weekly hiring events, getting candidates from application to job offer in a matter of hours; it has helped cut down TruGreen’s time to contact by 10%.
- The more a hiring manager engages with AI-powered capabilities, the smarter the AI gets at matching and the better the job postings perform.
“We know that your hiring challenges remain the same — it’s too manual, too slow, too hard to find quality candidates, and you have too many systems to deal with,” Indeed’s EVP of Marketplace Product and UX, Raj Mukherjee, told the crowd at Indeed FutureWorks 2024.
Enter Indeed’s AI-powered products, which leverage the 320 terabytes of data that Indeed collects every day. “You could store over a trillion Microsoft Word documents with 320 terabytes of data, the equivalent of a billion novels every single day,” Mukherjee said.
These products have helped employers like TruGreen and MGM Resorts make better, faster hires. This is crucial for both companies, which collectively made more than 34,000 new hires last year. Streamlining that process has had a ripple effect throughout each business, as Jessica Manucy, TruGreen’s Senior Director of Talent Acquisition, and Rebecca Smith, MGM Resorts’ VP of Talent Acquisition, explained on stage.

In April 2024, Indeed launched Smart Sourcing, which accelerates candidate outreach and helps employers hire 20% faster. This AI-powered product searches the 295 million resumes on Indeed to find candidates with qualifications that overlap with the employer’s job description. Smart Sourcing summarizes each candidate’s strengths and potential experience gaps. From there, employers can invite select individuals to apply — and Indeed data shows that those Matched Candidates are 17 times more likely to apply.
TruGreen leans on Smart Sourcing to help fill its high-volume sales roles. The company hires seasonally and has made 17,000 new hires since the start of 2024 alone. When Manucy started in her role in 2021, TruGreen received 130,000 total applications and contacted every single candidate out of necessity. Flash forward to this year, TruGreen has already received 436,000 applications, which allows Manucy’s team to be more selective about outreach and offers. “Smart Sourcing automatically matches high-quality candidates with our roles, which has been great,” Manucy said. On average, Smart Sourcing reduces time to contact candidates by 10%.

Better Candidate Matching Improves the Density of High-Quality Candidates
MGM Resorts brings on 20,000 new employees annually at its resorts and casinos, with the majority in security, food and beverage and casino roles — ones with traditionally high turnover. “Indeed is able to provide us with a job seeker who’s actually ready to work,” Smith said.
MGM Resorts uses Glassdoor, Indeed’s sister company, to share information about its employer brand and encourage applicants who are looking for a long-term career, not just a job, to apply. By using these platforms to funnel 150 to 250 quality candidates to its weekly hiring events, MGM Resorts can offer many of these individuals jobs before they even leave. “That has dramatically helped us support speed of hire and maintain a competitive edge in the market,” Smith said.
AI Wins Back Time for Recruiters to Become Strategic Partners
Employers have been using Indeed’s Sponsored Jobs, the platform’s most widely adopted product, for years. It gives them five times as many positive outcomes, including hires and interviews, compared to free job postings. In 2025, using the combined power of AI and new data from job seekers, Sponsored Jobs will feature enhanced targeting so that employers only pay for candidates who meet their minimum qualifications. In early pilot testing, Sponsored Jobs with candidate targeting led to a 47% higher likelihood of resulting in a hire. Hosted jobs on Indeed will also have access to Matched Candidates so you won’t have to wait for applications — you can contact AI-recommended candidates directly.

Raj Mukherjee, Indeed’s EVP of Marketplace Product and UX, speaks on how smarter AI will result in better talent matching.
If we can get our recruiters on the floor of the business, consulting with managers and engaging with candidates — that’s the real valuable work recruiters do.

These products save time for talent acquisition teams. In fact, Mukherjee shared that Smart Sourcing saves employers an average of six hours per week on recruiting tasks. “Our recruiters spend way too much of their time on administrative tasks,” Smith said. “If we can get our recruiters away from their desks and get them on the floor of the business, consulting with hiring managers and engaging with candidates — the real valuable work recruiters do — I can’t say enough how excited I am about the next couple of years and what AI brings to the industry.”
And all of this AI enhancements are only getting started. Mukherjee concluded by emphasizing a point that Indeed CEO Chris Hyams made in the conference’s opening remarks: the more your recruiting teams engage with the AI-powered capabilities, the smarter the AI gets at matching — and the better it will be at delivering the talent you're looking for.
