Here to Help: COVID-19’s Impact on the NHS, One of the World’s Largest Employers
October 26, 2020
In Here to Help, we’ll take a closer look at how working teams have responded to COVID-19, and adapted to the many changes it has brought to the world of work. The series features deep-dive conversations between CEO Chris Hyams and other leaders at Indeed, addressing the impact and complexities of this truly unique situation. The National Healthcare Service (NHS) is a publicly funded healthcare system in the U.K. With nearly 1.3 million employees, it’s the single largest employer in Europe, and also one of the largest employers in the world. So when COVID-19 threatened to overwhelm the NHS earlier this year, Indeed stepped in to help. Chris Hyams delves into Indeed’s partnership with the NHS with Deepa Somasondari, Director of Strategic Projects at Indeed. In addition to discussing the impact of a global pandemic upon one of the world’s largest employers, she shares how her experience was shaped by her own personal story, having relocated from India to the U.K. some 13 years ago without knowing the language.
