Indeed’s ‘Rising Voices’ Initiative Raises $200,000 for Goodwill® Through Partnership with Amazon Fire TV

Funds will be donated to Indeed’s strategic partner Goodwill Industries International

AUSTIN, TX (August 16,  2021) — Indeed, the world’s number one job site, today announced its Rising Voices program in conjunction with Amazon Fire TV’s Stream it Forward initiative, has raised $200,000, all of which will be donated to Goodwill Industries International. Rising Voices, a partnership with Emmy Award-winning writer, creator and actor Lena Waithe and her company Hillman Grad Productions invested $1M in Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)  filmmakers to create 10 short films about the meaning of work and the idea that jobs can change us.

“The overwhelming viewer response to the Rising Voices films on Amazon Fire TV is a clear demonstration of our belief that talent is universal, but opportunity is not,” said Indeed CEO Chris Hyams. “Indeed’s mission is to help people get jobs. Through Rising Voices over 600 people were employed in making 10 short films and now this donation to Goodwill will help even more people improve their lives through employment.”

Goodwill, the leading workforce development provider in North America, is a long-standing partner with Indeed.  Community-based Goodwill organizations provide job placement services, skills and employment training, and other support services to help people earn jobs and grow their careers.

During the Rising Voices launch period, between June 24 and July 22, for every hour streamed on Fire TV (U.S. only) of Rising Voices films and select titles on Prime Video, Amazon committed to donate $1 to Goodwill Industries International, up to $200,000. As this goal was exceeded by 3X, Goodwill will receive the full donation of $200,000.

The Rising Voices initiative allowed the 10 filmmaker finalists to create 626 jobs.  Learn more about the program and view the 10 films, plus a “making of” documentary at
