Today, more Americans over the age of 55 are working than ever before—38 million and counting. That’s more than double what we saw just four decades ago. And yet, many older professionals still face barriers when it comes to advancing in their careers or even landing a new job.

In a recent AARP survey, nearly a quarter of workers age 50+ said they’re planning to make a job change this year. But here’s the catch: 65% of them haven’t taken any steps to prepare. That means no updated resume, no interview prep, and no concrete plan to find their next opportunity. It’s not about a lack of motivation—it’s about a lack of support, access to tools, and sometimes, facing down age-related bias in the hiring process.

At Indeed, our mission is to help all people get jobs. That includes the millions of experienced professionals who are still hungry to grow, contribute, and lead in the workplace. That’s why we’ve teamed up with AARP to launch a new career resources hub built specifically for older workers.

This hub, now live, offers job seekers age 50 and older the tools they need to feel more confident and competitive in the job market. From resume assistance and interview tips to curated job listings with employers committed to wellbeing and inclusion, we’re creating a space where experience is an asset.

Older workers bring incredible value to the table: deep knowledge, resilience, and a perspective shaped by experience. As co-sponsor of Indeed’s All Generations Empowered Inclusion Business Resource Group (IBRG), I’ve seen firsthand how multigenerational teams fuel innovation, foster connections, and make organizations stronger from the inside out.

This collaboration with AARP is about breaking down barriers and opening doors for seasoned professionals but also helping employers recognize the power of an age-diverse workforce.

The number of older workers is only expected to grow. It’s time we invest in solutions that empower them to thrive—and in turn, make our workforce stronger for everyone.
