Structured Telecom Cabling Technician
Work in DC, Virginia and Maryland Location
MUST HAVE LOW VOLTAGE HANDS ON CABLING EXPERIENCE
SUMMARY
The Technician is responsible for the successful execution of tasks assigned to them by their Foreman and/or Lead Technician. The Technician must posses a robust skill set and be able to do most technical installation tasks required. They may not be quite at the level of a Lead Technician but are well on their way. Should possess adequate troubleshooting skills in most technical areas. The only skill set that should be still progressing is fiber testing and trouble shooting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet or exceed productivity goals.
- Manage Material by ensuring you do not waste or lose material.
- Ensure that the quality of the installation is to the highest level.
- Ensure that you are practicing safe working habits at all times and have no lost time accidents for yourself.
- Count and report your productivity on a daily basis to your Lead Tech and/or Foreman.
- Manage all company tools and equipment with care and keep well maintained.
- Troubleshoot and correct any issues you encounter.
- Train and mentor Installers in proper installation methods and best practices.
- The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar low voltage construction, methods and equipment, tools and work procedures required.
- Can be a combination of training, education and/or relevant work experience.
- BICSI Installer II Fiber or BICSI Installer II Copper Preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must know structured cabling
- Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
- Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position.
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.
- Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, clients, and others.
- Ability to meet customer’s needs, expectations, and requirements.
- Demonstrates expertise in commercial low voltage systems installation.
- Must be a self-starter and a problem solver.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
