Fast paced, high demanding department
Income Tax Administrator (Former Employee) – New Philadelphia, OH – April 6, 2015
The biggest issue with the City and for that fact most likely any where that a union is involved. During the first several years that I worked there no employees in the clerical departments were covered by a union contract.
During the final years, our clerical staff formed a union, this caused a huge divide between management and staff. The union staff employees would receive pay increases, benefits, extra days off etc. and the management would be told by council members that there wasn't enough money in the budget to give anything to management. There was no one to go to bat for you. I would have still loved to have retired from my job there, but they were looking at outsourcing the tax department and possible the payroll staff. Election year was always so tense, didn't know if you would have a job or not. They made it very clear if you were not protected by the Union, you were at their mercy for your job. Some of us were told if they didn't like your shoes you could be fired and there would be nothing you could do about it.
no breaks, no thanks for a job well done.
