Well paid challenging position
Collections Consultant (Former Employee) – Hershey, PA – September 12, 2018
Working for Verizon was wonderful as far as salary and benefits go. It was also great in that it was challenging and never boring and you were able to talk to many people on the phone, which I enjoy being interactive with people. I am very grateful for the time there.
However, it is a stressful and intense atmosphere. After all, it is a national call center. You are monitored every day and under a time constraint with the goal of taking care of the customer in every way, but doing it all as quickly as possible. Often the Supervisors knew less than we did and did much less work, which was frustrating. Violators always seemed "to get away with it," as Management didn't have the courage to deal with rebellious employees, which nowadays are difficult to fire. So the overall morale of Collectors in the call center was always on the low side. Everything was work-intensive. There were no meals or special times or favors given to us.
Great salary and benefits, challenging work, never boring.
Low morale, intense monitoring and reviews, little or no praise or thanks, supervisors that knew less than we did.
