Could be a nice job but they make it hard to enjoy.
Driver (Current Employee) – Shippenville – March 8, 2018
The work really isn't that bad at all depending on what route you get. The most stressful thing is weather and road conditions.
Pay is alright but don't expect to get a raise. The new drivers being hired on in some cases are making more than veteran drivers. There's really no incentive long term.
There is no room for advancement once you're a driver. If a job does open up they laugh at you and say your either under qualified or you're to important as a driver. It's hard for them to find people that actually want to do this job, with that said they are not going to promote a driver that has been there for years because then they will have to replace them. If you do want any kind of Mangament job you better hope you're related to someone important.
The company treats the drivers like children instead of letting you do your job. You have a camera in your truck, they follow you around to make sure your not breaking rules, they track your every move on a drivecam system. They won't listen to any suggestion about routing because they feel their computers can handle that better than the person that runs those routes 5 days a week.
Mangament is a joke. They have people in positions that no nothing for what it really takes to do a job. They write up rules that contradict other rules. They are all related. ( talking northwestern Pennsylvania sites, Shippenville, Brockway, Pittsfeild). Instead of giving drivers the opportunity to move up they bring a completely unqualified relative in and put them in charge of operations.
The company waste money on pointless things. Money that could be used as incentive for people to stick around.
Health insurance sucks, it goes up every year and covers less.
Also, back to accidents. If you do get hurt on the job, don't be surprised if they threaten to fire you if you turn it in as a "work related injury". They are disgusting people when it comes to injuries. If they don't have a legitimate reason to fire you, they will find one. Don't expect unemployment either. They will fight that tooth and nail no matter how long and loyal you have been.
There's more but my blood pressure is up even thinking about this place.
Pay isn't terrible. You meet new people and build relationships with your customers.
No advancement, Poor management, Treat drivers as if they're stupid.
