I fell into the State Farm Family since my parents worked for the Company. Both retired after 30 years respectively. I am currently an employee of a State Farm Agency, whereas my parents worked for the Company. Both are great to work for since across all lines we work in unison to manage risks, recover from the unexpected, and help people realize their dreams. The Company has had many changes in the past few years, but none as much as in the past year. The changes are positive as we have become more streamlined and seamless. Honestly it has been frustrating, but like any change it takes time and this time it is a positive one. I recommend this Company and/or their Agents as they will always be around. Job security is a big plus and the benefits are great as well. Working for the Company can be great if you desire to be an agent, but it is not a requirement. I recommend working for an agent for at least 2 years or simply speak to a recruiter. If you have the desire to help people then this could be your calling.
I have never worked for Corporate like my parents so I cannot comment on the cons. On the Agent side, it varies depending on if they are engaged and hungry to succeed as this directly relates to your learning and development as a sales rep. Some Agents are more giving than others so you will have to do your research. Older Agents on old contracts may be set in their ways, but you may be the right fit if you can produce. They can show you the ropes!
The Company - great structure/benefits ; The Agent - flexibility
The Company - never worked for Corporate ; The Agent - lack of benefits
