Good pay for a small town, inconsistant schedule, poor managment
Store Clerk (Former Employee) – Iowa Falls, IA – September 5, 2017
For what you are doing in a small town (Iowa) the starting pay of $9.50 is good. It was hard form me when I was let go from a job for "not meeting expectations" to go from making $13.50 an hour to the $9.50. I can't make my bills. Hours are all over the place, no set schedule. We either have to many people working some days or not enough. Full time employees are the ones that have to be "flexible", and work the all over the place hours, while the part time staff, have set times they can come in, and there is no preference given as to vacation time being used. They ask the full time store clerks to do some management duties, but you get no pay raise for doing it. Along with no official training. Only half hour lunches, even if you are working full time hours and at our store you never get 40hrs a week. Maybe 32-35hrs a week. Repetitive work, such as tagging clothes and hanging on racks. I am developing serous shoulder pain, and you are on your feet all day, I walk apx. 3 miles a day just at work, also having knee issues. Only closed for Christmas/Thanksgiving and just this year they added 4th of July. Only a 10% employee discount.
If you can stick it out the 90 days, you then have a lot of PTO to use.
Inconsistant schedule/hours, low pay for what you are asked to do.
