We host our own lifeguard training at Camp Wing Day Camp! In order to be hired for the Day Camp Counselor position, applicatns must be willing and able to do Lifeguard Training. Training Dates to be confimred. Lifeguard Training is paid. More information is invluded about the training below job description.

ABOUT US:

At Camp Wing Day Camp, our programming helps campers grow through swimming, sports, crafts, performing arts, adventure activities, and more. Becoming a Day Camp team member adds depth and experience for those interested in youth development, education, outdoor recreation, social work, leadership, and many additional career paths. WHO YOU ARE:

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Experience: Background at camp or working with youth
  • Passionate about mentoring/leading youth in an outdoor, camp environment
  • Have exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Desire to work in a high energy, fast-past environment that will require flexibility, adaptability and creativity
  • Visual and auditory abilities are required to identify and respond to environmental hazards during activities
  • Endurance is required to maintain full-day outdoor supervision of young people.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead and inspire a group of energetic youth (K-9th grade) through exciting daily activities, including arts, sports, adventure, and waterfront fun
  • Guide your group alongside a co-counselor, serving as mentors and role models while fostering a supportive and fun environment
  • Collaborate with supervisory staff to add creative twists and fresh ideas to make each day more dynamic and engaging for campers
  • Partner with supervisory staff to address and manage camper behavior with care, helping campers grow, learn, and navigate challenges
  • Collaborate with the Camp Wing Leadership Team to maintain a vibrant, organized environment—overseeing spaces, supporting camper experiences, and ensuring smooth transitions during arrivals, departures, and activities

You will spend your summer making a real impact! Join a dynamic team and serve as a positive role model for our youth from Eastern, MA in grades K - 9. As a day camp counselor, you’ll help campers step outside their comfort zones, set and achieve goals, and make positive choices!

LIFEGUARD TRAINING INFORMATION:

We are hiring counselors who are willing and able to participate in lifeguard training.

We host our own lifeguard training at Camp Wing Day Camp! To be hired for the Day Camp Counselor position, applicants must be willing and able to do Lifeguard Training. Training Dates to be confirmed. Lifeguard Training is paid and includes three main phases: a swimming prerequisite test, hands-on practical skills assessments (water rescues, CPR/AED, and First Aid), and a final written exam.

***If you pass the lifeguard training, you will also have a certification bonus added to your pay at the end of the summer.***

Training Requirements (Successfully complete the two prerequisite swimming skills evaluations):

Prerequisite 1: Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest:

  • Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 138 meters (150 yards) using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. (Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed.)
  • Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs.
  • Swim 46 meters (50 yards) using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.

Prerequisite 2: Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:

  • Starting in the water, swim 18 meters (20 yards). (The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.)
  • Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 2 – 3 meters (7 – 10 feet) to retrieve a 4.5 kg (10 pound) object.
  • Return to the surface and swim 18 meters (20 yards) on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out at or near the surface.
  • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Pay: $500 per week. Eligible for certification incentives.
