Connecting people to better work to create better lives

At Indeed, we help all people get jobs.

We believe the world can work better. With the power of our platform and our people, and in partnership with organizations that share our mission, we’re creating an environment where current and future generations can thrive.

Talent is universal, but opportunity is not

We strive to create a world where job seekers everywhere have equal opportunity to find fulfilling jobs. A world where employers everywhere are focused on what matters and hire equitably. A world of work that works for everyone.

Our Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) commitments aim to bring about a future of work that is equitable and inclusive. As the world’s number one job site Comscore, Total Visits, September 2021 and a leading hiring platform, we strive to make a positive impact on society by connecting people to better work to create better lives.

ESG is core to our business

These four principles guide everything we do.

Make job search faster and simpler

Remove bias and barriers to employment

Build sustainable equity for our people through our policies and practices

Reduce our environmental footprint

As a mission-driven company, Indeed created our ESG commitments to go hand in hand with what we do best. We help all people get jobs. How we do that matters. By reducing our environmental footprint, making job search faster and simpler, removing bias and barriers to employment, and building sustainable equity for our people, we get closer to achieving our mission.

This work is continuous, and our learnings are constantly growing. We are tackling systemic, deeply-rooted issues. As we work to make our ESG commitments a reality, we strive to be transparent about our progress and accountable to job seekers, employers, and our communities.

Our 2030 commitments

We have made four ambitious commitments aimed at transforming hiring by 2030.

Help 30M people facing barriers get hired Job seeker barrier is defined as having no college degree, having a disability, having a criminal record or arrest, having military experience, receiving Work Essentials support through our partner organizations, or any combination. This may evolve as we improve our ability to measure additional barriers.

Here are some of the efforts we’re driving to help make our 2030 commitments a reality:

Not only do we want to shorten the time it takes for someone to find a job, but we hope that speed opens the door to great opportunity. To this end, we’ve established a standard for measuring and improving work wellbeing, and are working to increase the number of people with greater wellbeing at work.

To support job seekers facing barriers, we’re working to reduce inequalities in hiring by building tools, systems, and processes that advance responsible and inclusive technology.

Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging extends beyond our own workforce. We have launched, and will continue to expand, our supplier diversity program, focused on women, LGBTQIA+, veterans, people with disabilities, and minority-owned businesses.

As a first step towards net zero emissions, we’ll maintain our annual carbon neutral certification.

Shorten the job search duration by 50%

We’ve conducted preliminary research on job search duration and found it takes about 15 weeks for most people to find a job Baseline job search duration calculated as of March 31, 2022. Calculated as the period from the time users started an active job search on the Indeed job platform to the time that 90% of such users had received a job offer (assuming for this purpose that the period it takes for 90% of users to receive a job offer represents a statistically significant value). The job search duration is calculated based on surveyed user data collected between September 2021 and March 2022

We’ve launched the Work Wellbeing Score across Indeed company pages, helping job seekers apply to roles with more speed and insight on prospective companies

We’ve expanded our data collection efforts to gather more information directly from job seekers on Indeed about the start of a job search

Achieve net zero in greenhouse gas emissions

We’ve achieved carbon neutrality since 2021 across our in-office, work-from-home, travel-related, and vendor emissions through the purchase of high-quality carbon offsets

31,634 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent were saved through Indeed Interview, our virtual interview platform, between April 2021 and March 2022, the equivalent of keeping 7,529 gas vehicles off the road for one yearMethodology verified by SCS Global Services. Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions were calculated from job seeker activity pulled from April 2021 to March 2022. The sample figure of avoided business travel was converted using the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator.

Increase Indeed’s workforce representation

In 2021, we implemented the Inclusive Interview Rule, a transformative solution to help reduce bias and remove barriers from our sourcing and interview process, leading to improvements in gender, racial, and ethnic representation when applied

We’ve expanded our external partnerships with organizations that align with our 2030 representation commitments, including Mother Honestly, AFROTECH, Lesbians Who Tech, Out & Equal, HBCU SpringComing, and Broccoli City

We released our 2024 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB+) Report, which includes our most up-to-date workforce demographics for 2024 and features a significant expansion of our approach to sharing our work in the DEIB+ space
