Community Autism Services
School Psychologist | Aurora, CO
Full-Time | School-Based | $70,000 – $95,000
Why School Psychologists Choose CAS
At Community Autism Services, we know that great outcomes for students start with great support for clinicians. You won't be handed a caseload and left to figure it out - you'll have BCBAs, clinical leadership, and a collaborative team behind you every step of the way. We build environments where school psychologists thrive, and where your evaluations, consultation, and direct support have a measurable, lasting impact on students' lives.
WHAT SETS US APART
- Embedded BCBA and clinical leadership support and collaborative consultation on every caseload
- A culture that prioritizes data-driven decision-making without losing the human element
- Real investment in your professional development — assessment, crisis intervention, bilingual assessment, and more
- Meaningful, stable work in Aurora's growing school-based programs
- A leadership team that has worked in the field and genuinely gets it
Role Overview
The School Psychologist is central to how CAS understands and supports every student on a caseload. You'll conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, determine eligibility, and guide IEP teams toward decisions that are not just compliant - but meaningful. You'll partner closely with SPED teachers, BCBAs, families, and multidisciplinary teams across a range of needs - from students on the autism spectrum to students with affective/emotional needs and those served through CoAlt/SSN programs.
Caseloads span Aurora's school-based programs at both the elementary and secondary level. We'll work with you to build an assignment that matches your experience and strengths.
What You'll Do
ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to assess cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral functioning
- Determine eligibility for special education and related services in accordance with IDEA and Colorado Department of Education (CDE) guidelines
- Write clear, legally defensible evaluation reports within required timelines
IEP & ELIGIBILITY
- Participate as a member of IEP and multidisciplinary teams, including annual reviews and triennial evaluations
- Facilitate eligibility determinations in partnership with the multidisciplinary team
- Develop and monitor progress toward academic, behavioral, communication, and functional goals
DIRECT STUDENT SUPPORT
- Deliver individual and group counseling services aligned with IEP goals
- Support crisis intervention and threat/risk assessment as needed
- Promote positive mental health and safe, supportive learning environments
CONSULTATION & TEAM SUPPORT
- Partner with BCBAs on the development, implementation, and monitoring of FBAs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Provide consultation to teachers, paraprofessionals, and school staff on behavior intervention strategies and accommodations
- Participate in MTSS/RTI processes for students approaching or holding special education eligibility
- Actively participate in school-based MTSS, problem-solving, and grade-level teams
DOCUMENTATION & COMPLIANCE
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
- Complete required documentation — evaluation reports, progress notes, prior written notices — accurately and on time
- Ensure all evaluations and services meet CDE Special Services Provider (SSP) licensure standards
What We're Looking For
UNIVERSAL REQUIREMENTS
- Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.) or Doctorate in School Psychology from an accredited program
- Active Colorado CDE Special Services Provider (SSP) license — or eligibility to obtain
- Passing score on the Praxis School Psychologist exam (5402/5403)
- IEP evaluation and eligibility experience in a Colorado school district setting strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication with families, educators, and multidisciplinary team members
- Must pass district fingerprinting and background check
Compensation & Benefits
RANGE QUALIFIERS
- $70,000–$78,000: Entry-level, 0–3 years of experience, Ed.S. degree with active or provisional SSP license
- $78,000–$88,000: Mid-career, 4–8 years of school-based experience
- $88,000–$95,000: Senior-level, 8+ years of experience, Doctorate, and/or bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency
- Sign-on bonus for candidates with active Colorado SSP licensure
- Relocation stipend for candidates joining from 75+ miles away
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid school-year schedule following the APS academic calendar
- Ongoing professional development: assessment, crisis intervention, bilingual assessment, and more
- Career pathways into lead psychologist, clinical coordinator, and program specialist roles
