About the Role:

The Quality Chemist I will ensure that products meet or exceed customer requirements for quality. In addition, in this role, you will apply a basic understanding of plant processes to monitor quality assurance systems such as instrumentation calibration and maintenance, methods, procedures, raw material checks, and product safety. You will provide technical advice and support to production operations to ensure product quality, minimize process variation, process recoveries, waste reduction, and cost minimization and to improve customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related science field (chemistry, biochemistry, biology, engineering, etc);
  • or five years’ experience in a similar field

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment
    • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and seek process and laboratory problems; implement improvements based on the findings
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Experience with email, word and excel processing applications

Responsibilities:

  • Follow ISO 9001:2015, Quality Management System, and Safety guidelines and requirements
  • Ensure product meets in process and final approval checks through chemical and physical laboratory tests following standardized test methods.
  • Data analysis, trend identification, troubleshooting, corrective action and communication; handle basic issues and problems, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
  • Perform standardizations, calibrations, and performance verification of lab instruments (autotitrators, scales, viscometers, pH meters, gas chromatography, HPLC, turbidity meter, FTIR, UV Vis, flashpoint analyzer, dropping point)
  • Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas
  • Perform inventory of laboratory supplies
  • Maintain laboratory records
  • Maintain laboratory hygiene and cleanliness, including proper disposal of lab waste
  • Any other projects, duties, or tasks as assigned

The Quality Chemist I utilizes analytical skills daily to perform precise chemical testing and interpret complex data to ensure product quality. Attention to detail is essential when following protocols and documenting results to maintain compliance and traceability. Communication skills are used to effectively report findings and collaborate with team members to address quality concerns. Problem-solving abilities help in investigating deviations and implementing corrective actions. Additionally, proficiency with laboratory instruments and software supports efficient and accurate testing processes.


Night shift position - Initial training will be on first shift. Permanent shift = Sunday - Wednesday 9pm - 7am (4 ten-hour shifts)
