About Vaerus Aviation
Vaerus Aviation is a growing aviation company based in Topeka, Kansas. We serve people through aviation and connect them to what matters by providing safe, reliable, professional aircraft management and aviation services.
Our maintenance team plays a critical role in that mission. Every inspection, repair, logbook entry, troubleshooting decision, and post-flight conversation supports the safety, reliability, and trust our clients place in us.
About This Role
Vaerus Aviation is seeking an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. This role is responsible for maintaining the airworthiness, dispatch reliability, appearance, and long-term value of our managed fleet of business aircraft.
The ideal candidate is a skilled A&P Mechanic with corporate aviation experience, strong troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism. This position requires someone who takes pride in doing the work correctly, communicates well with the team, and understands the responsibility that comes with maintaining aircraft used by clients, crews, and families.
What You’ll Do
As an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, you will:
Maintain client aircraft in a safe and airworthy condition that meets or exceeds all applicable FAA regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on managed aircraft.
Troubleshoot, inspect, and diagnose maintenance issues involving aircraft systems, avionics, electrical systems, and related components.
Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, replace, and reinstall defective parts and components as needed.
Perform necessary functional and operational tests following maintenance actions.
Complete maintenance records, logbook entries, and required paperwork accurately and in accordance with FAA regulations and company policy.
Support post-flight processes, including aircraft debriefs with flight crews and follow-up on reported discrepancies.
Participate in ongoing training and certification programs to remain current with aircraft systems, regulatory requirements, and evolving maintenance practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for and ready for use.
Support inventory management by helping track parts, supplies, and equipment needed for maintenance operations.
Contribute to a maintenance culture built on safety, accountability, communication, and pride in workmanship.
This Might Be the Role for You If…
You take safety seriously and understand that even small details matter in aviation.
You enjoy solving problems, troubleshooting complex systems, and working through issues until the right answer is found.
You are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
You communicate clearly with maintenance leadership, flight crews, and other departments.
You take pride in keeping aircraft, tools, records, and work areas organized and professional.
You want to be part of a growing aviation company where your work directly supports clients, crews, and the long-term success of the organization.
Required Qualifications
Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification required.
Aircraft maintenance experience required, preferably in corporate, military, or business aviation.
Basic set of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
Ability to read, understand, and apply technical reference materials.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining personal accountability for assigned work.
Ability to occasionally work overtime or weekend hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Two or more years of experience in line avionics, electrical troubleshooting, or installation.
Five or more years of experience working as an A&P Mechanic.
Experience maintaining corporate or business aviation aircraft.
Knowledge of maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, service bulletins, structural repair manuals, engineering drawings, and airworthiness directives.
Experience or training on Challenger 300, Citation Excel/CE560XLS, Beechjet 400A, or Pilatus PC-12 aircraft.
Current Inspection Authorization.
Associate degree or higher in aviation maintenance or a related field.
Why Vaerus
At Vaerus, maintenance is not just about keeping aircraft moving. It is about protecting people, supporting crews, serving clients well, and helping build a company that is known for safety, reliability, and professionalism.
This role is a strong fit for someone who wants to be part of a team that values quality work, clear communication, continuous improvement, and pride in the details.
