Job Title:

Technical Support Engineer (US)– Advanced Imaging Systems

Company:

CSR Biotech (www.csr-biotech.com)

Contract:

Permanent, Full-time (100%)

Location:

CSR USA Inc. in Champaign, Illinois, USA, with remote work as an option.

Company Description:

CSR Biotech is a technology-driven company focused on advancing how we observe, understand, and interact with living systems.

Founded in 2019, our roots trace back to the interdisciplinary labs of Peking University, where our founding team worked alongside leading scientists in biological imaging. Since then, we have grown into a global organization, with our headquarters in Guangzhou and our European hub in Heidelberg, Germany — which is rapidly evolving into our global commercial center and a key engine for international growth.

Today, CSR Biotech brings together a team of over 150 scientists, engineers, and innovators, supported by a 4,000 m² facility that integrates research, development, and manufacturing. Our infrastructure includes advanced imaging laboratories, cell culture facilities, and a high-performance computing platform capable of handling PB-scale live-cell data.

We are growing rapidly globally, with our US office playing a key role in our global expansion. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company and make a significant impact in the life sciences imaging market.

Job Description:

As a Technical Support Engineer at CSR Biotech, you will play a crucial role in providing both remote and on-field support for our high-tech life sciences instruments. Reporting to the Team Leader Customer Service, you will work with customers and the internal team to install, maintain, and repair CSR instrumentation, ensuring smooth operations for all users.

Your hands-on troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and experience with microscopes and related instruments(hardware and software) will be invaluable in addressing technical issues. This role requires frequent travel and the ability to work independently in various environments, assisting other departments when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre- and Post-Sales Support: Provide remote and on-field support for customers, ensuring the proper setup and operation of CSR instrumentation.

  • Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair CSR instruments on-site.

  • Technical Expertise: Understand all technical aspects of CSR products, both hardware and software, and run sample preparation assays for testing protocols.

  • Microscopy Equipment: Experience with the operation of microscopes and related instruments is highly preferred.

  • Problem-Solving: Investigate and resolve technical issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Cross-Departmental Support: Collaborate with other departments to resolve technical issues across the organization.

  • Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service, building relationships with clients and identifying areas for improvement.

  • Frequent Travel: Be prepared to travel up to 85% of the time, often on short notice.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of field service and technical support experience in life sciences research, diagnostics, or medical devices.

  • Relevant qualifications in Microsystems, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, or Microscopy Optics.

  • Experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and basic laboratory techniques is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with microscopy equipment and related instruments is preferred.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of working with heavy and complex equipment.

  • Strong communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and managers across departments.

  • Valid driving license and proximity to a major US airport required.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package with performance-based incentives.

  • All business travel expenses covered, including domestic and international travel opportunities.

  • Extensive technical training and direct exposure to cutting-edge super-resolution and label-free imaging technologies.

  • A highly international and entrepreneurial work environment with strong career growth opportunities.

  • The opportunity to work closely with leading research institutes, biotech companies, and key opinion leaders worldwide.
