Can you wear your Pride to work?

One of the biggest ways we express ourselves is how we dress. However many employers–even well-intentioned ones–have dress codes that reinforce outdated gender norms. For example, some dress codes give makeup and jewelry guidance only for women. Many company dress codes refer to employees only as men or women, which fails to acknowledge nonbinary individuals. The way we show up at work starts with how we dress. Let’s make sure everyone is able to show up with Pride.

Pride now. Pride forever.

Pride shouldn’t be just a month. It’s a movement. One that should keep going past the end of June. If true progress is going to be made, companies need to put Pride into practice all year, every year. That way, everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community who is in a job, or looking for one, can always feel welcomed.
