Import Operation Job description
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Import shipments from origin, shipper, truckers, and steamship lines
- Open operation files for ocean and air shipments
- Arrange pickup and delivery for inland transportation
- Track the shipment to ensure it has reached the final destination
- Verifies shipment weight and volumes
- Calculates rates with the ability to convert pricing and rates
- Obtain and create quotes for shipments and source best method of transportation
- Ensure SOP and tariff compliance along with best practices and efficiencies
- Supports local sales efforts with timely responses to emails and rate requests
- Maintain communications with the customers, carries and vendors
- Responsible for filing Pre-alerts and ISF's
- Ensure accurate customer billing and agent invoicing
- Handles the full process from A-Z
- Handling and resolving Import troubleshooting
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Willing to train the right Candidate, 1-2+ Years in Freight Forwarding industry is a plus!
- Ability to communicate and provide great customer service
- Being able to work independently and part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Able to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines
- Great organizational skills & attention to detail
- Outgoing and forward-thinking mindset
- Ability to navigate and work efficiently using IT software
- Reliable source of transportation to work
Desired Qualifications:
- DG or Hazmat Certification
- Familiarity with Descartes System a plus
- Flexible attitude towards work
- High School Diploma or Bachelor's
- Experience handling FCL & LCL
