Blocking Employers on Indeed

Certain account details may be visible to employers depending on your profile settings. This page will show you how to hide your profile from certain employers on Indeed.

Getting started

  1. Create an account or sign in.
  2. Click Profile in the navigation or tap the Profile icon.
  3. Click or tap Employers can/can't find you to open your profile settings menu
  4. Open the Block employers section by scrolling to the bottom of your profile settings page.

Using the feature

Blocking employers

  1. Enter the name of the employer you want to block.
  2. Select all relevant matches from the search results.
  3. Click or tap Save.

Unblocking an employer

Click or tap the trash can icon next to an employer to remove them from the list. This will allow them to find your profile again.

Did you know? You can block up to 100 employers.

What happens when you block an employer

When you set your profile to Employers can find you.

Blocked employers won't be able to find your profile or resume in searches when logged into their account.

When you set your profile to Employers can't find you.

No employers will be able to find your profile or resume in searches.

When you apply for a job.

Employers you've blocked can still access your application and profile details if you've applied to a job for that employer.

Important: Blocking isn't guaranteed. To fully prevent any employer from viewing your profile, set your profile visibility to Employers can't find you in your profile settings.

Can't find your employer?

Here are some tips if you don't see your employer listed:

  • Double-check the spelling.
  • Try different versions of the company name.
  • The employer might not be listed on Indeed.
Tip: If the employer's name doesn't appear on the list, you can mark their jobs as Not interested. This won't block the employer, but it can help filter out their jobs from your homepage and search results. Learn more about Adding or Editing Profile and Job Search Preferences.
