Job Summary
We are seeking Export Licensing & Trade Compliance Specialists to support the company's U.S. export control compliance program. One position will focus primarily on U.S. Department of State (DDTC) matters, and the other on U.S. Department of Commerce (BIS) matters, with both roles collaborating closely with KAI's headquarters Export Control Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage company registration and ongoing compliance with the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), including registration as an exporter/broker, and maintain records in SAM.gov
- Prepare and support ITAR/EAR export license applications, including required documentation and correspondence
- Monitor and analyze changes in ITAR/EAR regulations and policy, and report potential impacts to Korean defense industry stakeholders
- Maintain and audit export-related databases in coordination with headquarters
- Develop and deliver internal export compliance training materials
- Serve as a liaison with relevant U.S. and Korean government agencies on export control matters
- Support risk assessment, compliance diagnostics, and preparation of Voluntary Self-Disclosures (VSDs) as needed
- Support related programs and supply chain management functions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher (Business, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field)
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency required (mandatory for ITAR-related work under U.S. federal export control regulations)
- Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in export/import compliance, program management, sales, or supply chain management (entry-level candidates may be considered for the BIS-focused role, with training provided)
- Fluent in both English and Korean
- Working knowledge of U.S. export control and licensing regulations; foundational understanding of and practical experience with ITAR/EAR required
- Prior experience in the aerospace or defense industry
- Practical experience with U.S. government export control processes and license submissions (e.g., DSP-5, TAA, ITAR, EAR, FMS)
- Technical proficiency in Excel data analysis for reporting and decision-making purposes.
- Excellent report-writing skills with attention to detail for regulatory documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently within a fast-paced environment while maintaining compliance standards.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments such as legal, logistics, and supply chain teams.
