Section 1: General FAQ for Employers

You may have some questions about the terms and conditions related to Indeed services. Here are answers to some commonly asked questions that may help you.

Indeed’s General Terms of Service (“Terms”) is an agreement between you and Indeed that applies to all Job Seekers, Employers, Publishers and other users who access or use the Site, and which governs the relationship and obligations between you and Indeed. For example, Indeed requires users to acknowledge that Indeed has no control over the content of Job Ads or links to and from Job Ads since such content is created solely by Indeed users. Our Terms also confirm that Indeed has sole discretion with respect to what content it accepts, publishes or hosts on the site.

Please be advised that these FAQs are for your convenience only. They are not an exhaustive explanation or legal advice, and do not supplement or replace the applicable Terms, which constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Indeed. We advise you to read any applicable terms in full. Capitalized terms used here shall have the same meanings defined in the Terms.

Section 2: FAQ on Indeed Ads Program Terms

*This list is not an exhaustive explanation or legal advice. We advise you to read the full Indeed Ads Program Terms carefully here.*

Who do the Indeed Ads Program Terms apply to?

Indeed Ads Program Terms (“IAP Terms”) apply to any Employer who:

  • posts, uses, edits, claims, or pays for any Job Ad (including starting a campaign on or through Indeed), or
  • posts, uses, or pays for any Employer Branding Ads (formerly known as Targeted Ad or Indeed Targeted Ads); or
  • access, uses, or pays for virtual hiring events or Indeed Hiring Events program.

As an Employer, what am I responsible for and why?

You are responsible for all job content that you have posted on Indeed, as well as any content reachable from links you post on Indeed. Indeed cannot be responsible for such content since it has been posted by Employers or other users.

You are responsible for paying the price in accordance with the click count or otherwise determined measurement that such a Job Ad receives.

You are also responsible for ensuring that you do not advertise anything illegal or engage in illegal or fraudulent business practice in any state or country where your ad is displayed. You are also responsible for ensuring that your information is correct and current and you grant Indeed and its Publishers the right to copy, distribute and display your ads.

How are the charges incurred for Indeed’s Ads Program?

This depends on the product/s purchased, and the pricing model listed in a separate agreement, the Site, or insertion order between you and Indeed.

For Pay per Application and Pay-per-Started-Application, charges are solely based on Indeed’s Apply or Apply Start measurements. You will be charged upon the earlier of a) your Ad campaign spending $500.00 or more or b) the beginning of the next calendar month after you sponsor your Job Ad. If you previously purchased cost-per-click Job Ads on the same account, you may also be charged once your Job Ad campaign spends $25.00. You shall be charged based on click count, regardless of whether you set a total budget.

For IHE, you shall be charged based on clicks, RSVPs, applies or impressions (distributed within your budget in Indeed’s sole discretion) and platform fee, if applicable. RSVPs are defined as a user completing the online RSVP form agreeing to attend your Event featured in any Job Ad. However, an RSVP does not guarantee that a Job Seeker will attend such Event.

For non-video ads (also known as display ads), impressions are defined as an ad appearing on a page of the Site or a third party site, including mobile apps, which page has been presented to a user. For non-video ads as well as video ads, impressions may be counted differently depending, in part, on the website(s) on which they appear, since each third party website or service that facilitates displaying ads on such websites may count impressions differently (Indeed relies on these third parties for measuring impressions).

Charges are solely based on Indeed’s Apply measurements, click measurements, or impressions measurements

What are the cancellation terms for Indeed’s Ad Program?

Indeed provides for termination for convenience. Unless stated otherwise, you may immediately cancel any ads (for example, any Job Ad or corresponding Hiring Event) at any time without notice on your own via your Indeed Advertiser Dashboard (effective generally within 24 hours). However, if you cancel a Hiring Event, Indeed will still bill you in accordance with any pricing listed in a separate agreement (or as otherwise agreed upon by you and Indeed), for RSVPs, clicks, applies, or impressions accrued while the Job Ad for that Hiring Event was on the Site, and any platform fee, if applicable. Indeed may also cancel any Job Ad on Indeed, the Ads Program or the Ad Program Terms at any time without notice. Indeed will issue a final invoice for any charges incurred prior to cancellation.

What are the terms related to posting a job?

When posting a Job Ad, Employers must abide by the applicable Terms, as well as Indeed’s policies as published on our site. Indeed has the right to remove any Job Ad at any time for any reason without notice. For examples of why Indeed may reject particular Job Ads, please refer to Indeed’s Search Quality Policies. We cannot give every reason why a job or a company may be removed, and we always retain the right to remove any job if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. Indeed’s decisions in this regard are final. Indeed may require certain Job Ads to be sponsored in order to verify the legitimacy of the Job Ad and/or the Employer. Violation of Indeed’s Policies may result in immediate termination of a particular Job Ad, the Ads Program Terms or your account without notice.

For examples of why Indeed may stop accepting certain Job Ads from job boards, please refer to the Job Board Inclusion Guidelines.

Indeed’s website is provided “as is” and “as available”, what does this mean?

Indeed’s provision of the Ads Program and the Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. “As Is” means that when you purchase or use Indeed services, you are accepting Indeed services in its current condition.

“As available” is commonly used as a disclaimer for internet based services. This indicates obligations only when Indeeds product or service is available.

Services provided over the internet may be subject to external factors beyond Indeed’s control. For example, it is common for cloud service providers to go down occasionally due to maintenance or updates.

For Job Ads, you will only be charged for the clicks incurred, Indeed’s Apply or Indeed Apply Start measurements. If the Site was to go down you would not be charged as your Job Ad would not receive any clicks, and measurements would not be taken.

Why does Indeed require client indemnification?

Indeed provides user-friendly products that help Employers find great candidates, including allowing Employers to determine the content of their Job Ads. Since you create the content of your own Jobs Ads, Employer Branding Ads and Hiring Event Indeed requires you to take responsibility for your use of Indeed’s services and your content on the Site.

Section 3: FAQ on Indeed’s Resume/ CV Search Program Terms

*This list is not an exhaustive explanation or legal advice. We advise you to read the complete Indeed Resume/ CV Search Program Terms (“IRSP Terms”) carefully*

What is the Indeed Resume/ CV Search Program (“Program”)?

The Program is a database of Job Seeker profiles that Employers can use to proactively find and engage with candidates. Any Employer who uses the Program is also subject to all applicable Site rules, policies, Indeed best-practices and guidelines that are currently available on the Site.  Indeed does not guarantee that the email address associated with a Job Seeker profile is still in use. In the event phone numbers are provided by the Job Seeker in the resume, Indeed does not guarantee their validity and can not confirm whether such numbers are landlines or cell phones. You agree to call Job Seekers regarding relevant job opportunities only. If you are located in the United States, it is your sole responsibility to comply with all guidelines in the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

Who do the IRSP Terms apply to?

IRSP Terms apply to any Employer who accesses or uses the Program for the purpose of searching for or contacting Job Seekers to fill a job.

What is the acceptable use policy for the Program?

The only acceptable use of the Program is for an Employer to contact a Resume Owner through Indeed regarding a Job Listing or potential employment. No other uses of the Program are permitted.

As an Employer, what am I responsible for?

You are responsible for all your actions when using the Program, such as contacting the Resume Owner and communication with the Resume Owner.

How are charges incurred for my use of the Program?

The Program is provided on a subscription basis and details regarding the Resume subscription plan are available on the Site. As these are subscription-based services, payments are not refundable once made.

What are the cancellation terms for the Program?

Indeed offers easy and flexible cancellation of the Program, and instructions on how to cancel your subscription can be found in the Indeed Employer Help Center. Each subscription grants a user the ability to contact Job Seekers in our database and comes with a certain number of contacts each month. Keep in mind that you cannot cancel individual contacts that you have already used: once you have requested that Indeed contact a Resume Owner, you may not revoke such request.

Following any subscription cancellation, you will continue to have access to the service through the end of your current billing period. Refunds (if any) are at the absolute discretion of Indeed and only in the form of credit for Indeed services. If you purchase a subscription plan, you will be charged on  a recurring basis until you cancel your subscription plan and such cancellation goes into effect, which may not be until the next billing cycle. The applicable billing cycle (e.g. monthly or annual, etc.) will depend upon the terms agreed upon.
