Position Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining thermoforming equipment used to produce high-quality plastic products. This position ensures that production requirements, quality standards, safety procedures, and efficiency goals are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate thermoforming machines and related production equipment.
  • Load raw materials, tooling, rolls, or sheets according to production requirements.
  • Adjust machine settings, including temperature, pressure, speed, timing, and forming depth.
  • Monitor equipment throughout the production process to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Inspect finished products for dimensions, appearance, thickness, trimming, and other quality requirements.
  • Identify defects, troubleshoot operating issues, and make appropriate machine adjustments.
  • Complete production, quality, scrap, downtime, and material usage records accurately.
  • Perform product changeovers and assist with installing or removing molds and tooling.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using established housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Communicate equipment problems, material concerns, and quality issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance team.
  • Work cooperatively with production, quality, maintenance, warehouse, and supervisory personnel.
  • Meet established production rates while minimizing waste and downtime.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous machine operation or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow production orders, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, or tape measures.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to complete production documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous thermoforming, plastics, extrusion, injection molding, or converting experience.
  • Experience completing machine setups and product changeovers.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection procedures and manufacturing safety standards.
  • Forklift or material-handling experience, if applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, climb, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment, heat, noise, and plastic materials.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing environment where employees may be exposed to moving machinery, elevated temperatures, noise, fumes, and varying environmental conditions. Required personal protective equipment must be worn at all times.
